c'mon gang, take some time and tell us about you.
My name is Ernie (background...Hi Ernie...) I am 27, married with two kids, a girl (4), and a boy (1.4). They are cool. Nothing like the kids man. Anyway. I am a military brat, father was in navy 20 yrs so we been allover. My living situations have included the following areas...in order. Texas, Mississippi, California, South Carolina, Florida, Italy, England, and then finally here in Virginia. I would love to go back to italy...had a great time there. I have always been a bigger person...not always fat, but thick...In first year of H.S. was chubby, started football and following year was great shape...went on for the rest of H.S. good shape...wrestled senior year. Got outts school, partied a bit...ended up here in virginia...took Taekwando for 2 yrs...still in good shape...met my wife...dated, married......got a desk job at Gateway (tech support) and two years later I was fat! 235 lbs. got fired for bieng a dumbass...wife pregnant, didn't know what to do, joined Marines. Wanted to go into the Air Force but they would not take me, too fat. Told me to lose weight and come back. Went accross the hall to the Marines...they took me to the gym...and said "we'll fix you". Took several of thier tests, they found out I was smart and wondered why I wanted in...and I told them cause you guys were willing to help me lose the fat, not just tell me to go away and come back when skinny (plus I needed benefits for new family) . So, i signed up as with data/systems as my MOS, only persn I met in the corps with that as MOS..not many computer programmers join the Marines...got in at guaranteed Lance Corporal E-3 due to the test scoring...and it looked like I had it made. Low and behold, I learned something...don't force yourself to run 3 miles a day when you are overweight...I was running like that before i went into corps...for a month...had some bad shin splints...but rested thema bit, figured they'd go away....WRONG. So once I get to the island and am in midst of boot camp....i am limpin like a mutha...cant walk hardly, much less run...gettin my ass chewed all up and down for bieng a fat slob....and finally one day the drill instructor came up to me and said "Parrow....why the hell are you limping all the damn time"...my reply was"sir, this rectruit has no idea...sir" he then ordered me to go to sick bay...I did , they x-rayed...great, good job dumbass, now I had four cracks in my shins...two on each shin...called Bi-Lateral Tibial Stress Fractures. Sent me back on crutches and I was dropped to MRP...while we though it meant Mentally Retarded Platton, it really stood for Medical Rehabilitation Platoon. And there I sat waiting for my damn legs to heal. never did get quite right again, to this day they still bother me when its cold or when i put alot of stress on them...that's why I don't run. Anyway, they discharged me, gave me and ELS...Kinda like a "do-over" basically said go home and get better and come back in six months. So there went that. The good thing was that when your hurt...all i could do was workout....no exaggeratiing, 1000 crunches a day, 500 pushups a day...I came home a lean...cut mutha fuka...weighed 180 , dunno about body fat, but there wasn't much. I lost 55 lbs. in the corse of 4 1/2 months there with the Marines. I will never forget the lessons learned there, and the quality of life imparted on me in my short stay with them. OOhhhhh Rahhhhh. So i got home, farted around a while...got a job here and there, finally ended up here....said to myself, F computers, don't care about them anymore....got into the moving industry....as a salesman....moved up ranks, now I run the place. Next 6 months or so , I will be General Manager of my own Terminal...and finally be comfy...LOL. Thats my life in a bottle. Hope ya didn't get bored too much. I'll put some family pics up here in a bit.... |

my name is Brian. I am 27, married, and have a 4 year old and a 1 year old, both boys. I work in the IT field for a company that make software for the mutual fund industry. I do not like it. I had a nice job at Sprint, but was laid off a while back. Only took my currrent job, because the market is tight, and I needed to make some money. I lifted weights in highschool and played sports. Then went full time party mode and put working out on hold. I started lifting again in Feb. I weighed 260. I cleaned up my eating habbits and took lifting seriously in June. I now weigh 275. I will start dieting in the beginning of the year. I have some chub around the midsection. I would someday like to do a competition, but will probably wait a year. The hardest part for me is the dieting. Once I get that down, I should be fine. Thats about it.

I'm a youngin
Age : 18 Name : Daniel Height : 5'10 Weight : 210 Location : Chesterfield, Virginia Well, I just recently got into bodybuilding. I started as soon as I graduated from high school in early January. Of course, my first 2 months or so was the typical Arms/Chest workouts with a few other workouts done sparingly. I shaped up in August however and have been going non-stop since then. My reason for training? Martial Arts competition. I'm looking to return to competition this year and possibly compete in the Us-Open either this year or next. It's basically the World Championships of Sport Karate. I trained for six years in Karate and since then, for the last 3 years I have privately studied Ninjitsu, Tae Kwon Do, Jeet Kune Do, and Tang Soo Do. |

I have always been large framed with good growing genetics, I grew fast and lost most of my weight rather quickly. My wife is a Physical Therapist with a Masters degree, she runs but really never strength trains. Which is fine by me as I always saw it as a personal hobby anyway. I have always been Christian (well Catholic) until I became just a mainstream Christian (attend a Baptist church though). I tinkered of becoming a priest for a while, but then got married. I am now studying to become a pastor and my intrests lie in researching cults and Apologetics (Fancy word for defending the faith against Athiests, secular humanists, other religions, etc.) As far as my weightlifting: 230-225 lbs 5'11 Bench 170--probably will be more, I am on a PH cycle (just started). Current age: 44
Height: 6'1" Current weight: 186-189 lbs. Married, 3 kids, ages 21, 14, and 12. Goal: Maintain overall fitness, using cardiovascular exercise, nutrition, and weightlifting. By the time I was 18 I was about 6'1" and weighed 300 lbs. In April of 1981, at a weight of 285 pounds (I had lost 15 pounds without even realizing it) I made a bet with a friend to lose 50 pounds over the summer. She was supposed to lose 30 pounds, and the winner would collect $60 from the loser. I won the bet, and decided that if I could lose 50 pounds I could lose the rest, so I kept going. I was losing the weight by eating all of the things that I usually ate (except regular soda pop, which I gave up completely) but tried to just eat half of the amount that I would have otherwise eaten. I was also reading about healthier food choices, so I started to make some changes to my diet. By April, 1982 I had gotten my weight down to 180 pounds. I went from size 50" pants to 34." My shirt size dropped from 18.5 (or bigger) to 15.5. Later that same spring I began to walk for exercise. The summer of 1982 I walked 3 miles daily. I took the winter months off, and the next spring started walking 6 miles daily. This continued pretty steadily up to the present day, with variation in distance, especially during the last couple of years. During the late 80s I gained a little weight, fluctuating between 185-195. In the mid 90s, which was a turbulent time in our family life (lots of sickness, older relatives dying, moving, new babies, etc.), I got back up to 210-215, and had to buy some 40" waist pants. Realizing that if continued in this way I would eventually end up back at 300 pounds, I determined to reverse the course and started to eat more carefully. When warm weather returned I "hit the road" again with fitness walking, and over the course of about 8 months, got my bodyweight down to 173-178. Unfortunately, I came down with pneumonia, and dropped another 15 pounds, putting me down around 160, which even I thought was too low. After recovering from that, I kept on walking, and eating healthy, and my bodyweight stabilized at 171-173. It was at this bodyweight of 171-173 that I added weightlifting to my routine in February 2002. In the fall/winter of 2002/03 I “bulked” and got my bodyweight up to 197-201. Having once been really fat, it's easy for me to regain fat, so, I switched to “cutting,” and through the spring/summer of 2003, by emphasizing cardiovascular exercise (still walking, 3-4 miles, sometimes 6) I got my weight back down to 181-183. Deciding to try and gain some "good" weight again, on January 24, 2004 I dropped cardiovascular exercise for a while, and removed refined sugar and flour from diet. I gained a few pounds over the next several months, and in May brought cardio back into my routine in order to "cut" for a while. I've been more thoughtful about diet since early 2004, and believe that it's crucial for anyone with any kind of fitness goals to give attention to what, when, and how often they eat. My current workout routine is to lift 2 times per week using a push/pull split, full body routine. Cardio consists of 3 miles running on treadmill, or walking, on days in between weightlifting. At present I'm lifting a couple of times a week and doing cardio 2-3 times. I eat lots of protein (tuna, sirloin, turkey breast, chicken, eggs), with vegetables, fruit, and complex carbs. Complex carbs primarily come from old fashioned oats, and sometimes whole grain breads, sweet potatoes, and beans. I also include natural peanut butter, coconut oil, and nuts in my diet. I don't use aspartame, but I do use saccharine and stevia. I don't drink soda pop, but I do drink coffee and tea, both black and green. I like to eat small meals, 4-7 times per day. The biggest change for me after all these years is that I no longer worry too much about bodyweight, though I do keep track of it. I realize that it is is only one indicator of how I'm doing, and not the only one. I also use the way I feel, the way my clothes fit, and pictures as indicators of my progress. The most satisfying thing for me is to have finally reached a point where I feel like I don't have to worry about my diet too much. After all these years I feel like I've finally figured out how to eat so that I don't regain fat. Last edited by Musicguy; 04-27-2005 at 06:08 PM. |

Name: Matt
D-O-B: 08/01/80 Live: Melbourne suburb, Australia Occupation: Bicycle Mechanic Interests: BB, riding, music (playing guitar and listening), V8 Supercars, Sprint Cars (any motor sport really!) Marital Status: Girlfriend of 3 years 5'8" 80kg 13%bf Goals: Gain muscle, learn all I can in my trade, become a personal trainer so I can improve peoples lives (properly), one day raise a family, maybe adopt a child or two. Anyway, I grew up in a town called Traralgon (pop 34,000ish) about two hours S/E of Melb'. Did a lot of engineering and metal work classes at school. Wanted to specialize in underwater welding. Finished school and tried to get an apprenticeship a couple of times but was unsuccessful(sp?). In a town like that it's who you know, not what you know. So after a stint at Safeway (supermarket) and then being on the dole, a friend finally convinced me to move to the big smoke(jk). I was 18y. So I went back with him one day and said i'd stay for a few weeks. Rang dad that arvo and told him the deal. He was cool. I hated it at first, to noisy and to busy, not as friendly as my home town but I got used to it. After countless c.v's being dropped off for two weeks, I finally got a call from the head chef of an Italian resturaunt who needed a kitchen hand. Went there next morning to suss it out and had lunch with him. His name was Enzo Lo Terzo. 26y and a big Cicilian guy. We got along well and I started the next week. (Hey another week of bludging was'nt going to hurt anyone!) I worked from 9am to 3pm, Mon to Fri. He finised the same time as me and went to a gyw two minutes up the road, so I started going with him. I enjoyed it so much and became hooked. Plus he was one of "the big guys" so he introduced me to all the other "big guys". I felt invincible walking into that gym ! Felt so protected. He took me as a little brother because I did'nt know anyone in Melb except Marc, my mate I move in with. I owe all my strenght and confidence to Enz, Marc, and the gym guys. I was 68kg at that stage and in a few months reached 72kg. Changed jobs to a bike mechanic and slowed the training. Platued at 72 for a while. Joined the team in the kithen again after a year or so, this time as a cook. Started training again and after another stint at the gym, reached 78kg. Left the resturaunt again for the bikes and stayed ay 78kg untll last year. With some training here and there I hit 80kg and have been since. Two months ago I came across this site and now I am more dedicated than ever. I've started some supp's i'd never heard of and am stronger than ever and feeling heaps better. It's on now ! This site has truely inpired me to do my best and has tought me more in a couple of momths than I had learnt in 4-5 years. I apologise for the long story but it felt good to get it out . Good luck to everyone with their goal and all the best for the new year ! Peace |

I grew up in a small town, i started using drugs and drinking at a very young age. i smoked gobs of pot, and drank every day. then i quickly got into meth(crank), i was hooked on that stuff for a long time. i was very violent, sounds like a cleshay? but i lived a drug addicts life. i had power in guns if you know what i mean. i thought i was indestructable, i did alot of bad things i should be dead or in prison for. i started doing acid all the time and that led to pills and everything i could get, i did. then two years ago in september i ended up going to church, i was saved, i got cleaned up, righted a ew wrongs and started over. i now have been clean for two years, i am married with a 7 month old son whom is my pride an joy. i have a good job trimming tree's for the power company. i enjoy riding my dirt-bike, playng my guitar, hunting, and lifting. Now about lifting. I started lifting right after i got cleaned up, wanted to get big i was about 125, no good! we had a gym in town and i started working out with a guy i knew. I was only taking creatine but i learned alot from this dude. I did'nt grow any and then they shut the gym down. so i stopped, got married..ect..i was in great shape, i started taking ju-jitsu, jogging and boxing. But then my dad brought me over a weight bench a few months ago, gave me some weights and said, work-out! so i now weigh about 140-141?, i am getting stronger by the day, i work out in a little room in my house. all free weights no machines, old fashion work outs. and i'm gaining. i'v never had a chest, now i have a pretty big chest. my legs are exploding. but thats my story..later.

Name: Corey Williams
Age: 20 (21 in March) 5'10or11" 200lbs Oklahoma City, OK The reason why I wanted to lose weight is that I feel bad and tired all the time and want to see some change and want to not wear a damn shirt every where I go. My girlfriend of 1 year on (Jan. 3rd) is a whopping 105 pounds and she likes to grab my "manboobs" I didnt like it and said to myself I have to change I am sick of it. So here is my story... My name is Corey Williams from Oklahoma City, OK. I found the website (bodybuildingforyou.com) just two days ago and saw a forum and began reading on my break at work. I wont lie I was looking for an easy way out to lose weight without putting any effort into it. I was looking for some reviews about some products of "Fiber Thin" and "Right Size" and found this here. I grew up in OKC my whole life. I didnt start walking as a baby until 16 months later. I played all the sports such as baseball, soccer, basketball, and golf. I was good at them in the "little league" era until I reached high school. Never set foot in a gym until my freshman year of high school (9th). I went out for the baseball team and when we decided to run the mile I wish I never stepped foot on the planet because thats the way I felt. I was the last one to finish the mile in tryouts and the mile was in 12 minutes. I never have been able to run it under 10 min. So I started golf and got good but didnt persue it. Graduated in 2001 from high school went to college for 1 year and left. I got a good job at the time making big bucks at AOL yea AOL lol. Then got fired and didnt persue a career for 4 months. At the time of my firing I weighed 185 and could fit into my size 33' lucky's. I was down about my firing and started to drink heavily about every night from Sept. until Feb. If you want to know what beer will do to a person just ask I went from 185 to 195 and before I knew it I was at 200. Found a steady job for a Promotional Company in the warehouse and actually liked it but noticed I had a shortness of breath and tiredness from the job causing me to come home to be lazy and sleep. Never really took suppliments or vitamins and still dont because I dont know where to start. When I run or walk my legs get either cramps or just hurt badly and I dont have a clue what from as I have some muscle in my legs. Basically my goal is this: From reading people bios and pictures I figured there is enouph nice people on this forum board to offer suggestions tips and help for me to get to where I want. I have a membership at the Weight Room here in OKC just havent found the front door. I want to be 185 lbs or stay at 200 lbs with more muscle and less fat. Have no more man boobs (aint very big but still) have some abs not a beer gut Be able to walk or run without my legs hurting I do apologize if this Bio is odd or different I am very new to this and hope to start the weight training on Jan. 5th. If someone could point me in the right direction to where I can post my questions about suppliments, what the abbreveations stand for, pictures of weight training (bench, lat) that stuff it would be a big help. Thanks again for reading and I look forward to sharing my story with many of you people. Keep up the good work Thanks |

age: 17 height: 5'10" weight: 175 birthplace: Omaha, NE current location: Phoenix, AZ i started lifting when i was 13 for middleschool football in NE, probably not a good idea to lift at 13, but oh well. I stopped lifting untill recently. I decided to start lifting because my best friend was always stronger than me, it didn't take long to catch up to him, and now there is no way he can lift more than me. Now i'm currently training to get into BUD/S, for those of you who don't know that is Basic Underwater Demolitions/SEAL, Navy SEAL training. I did get accepted into ASU, so i am going to goto college first, but i think i will have plenty of time to train, ASU does have a nice gym from what i have heard.

age - 21 weight - 210-215 height - 6'2/6'3 location - boston ive always had a lanky body type.. long and skinny limbs, small torso... but that didnt stop me from being a fat kid. I was a fat kid in elementary school, a fat kid in middle school, and a fat kid in high school... basically bull****ted my way through, failing a class or two but getting through it and getting into the only college i applied to after my freshman year of college, i was tired of being a fat kid; i was weighing around 265lbs and i doubt i could have benched 135lbs a single time so that summer, i decided to diet... HARDCORE diet.. i mean eating a bowl of mini wheats for breakfast, a bowl of lettuce for lunch, and a light seafood dinner, all while going to the gym every day without fail the drastic change in my diet caused me to lose 30 lbs in my first month, and within 6 months i had gone from 265lbs to 180lbs... my diet became oatmeal and boca burgers... and the change was so extreme that my friends were making sure i didnt have an eating disorder/drug problem, and when i saw people from my high school up in boston, they didnt recognize me (which was a bonus) so around june of 2002 i started reading about proper nutrition, and learned that my technique of going to the gym every morning on an empty stomach wasn't the best way to get quality muscle while keeping fat levels low... i started eating more (but still healthy), and since then ive gained about 30 pounds of solid weight that is hardly any fat, since i keep a fairly good regimen of going to the gym for morning cardio and afternoon lifting and i started posting on this site when i was working at my second law firm... basically killing time in between legal prep |
