well i guess ill give my story, ill have to be boring an put some background info in as this will help explain some of my training and lifes choices

im 34 yrs old.
single & celebate
5'9 and apporx 84kgs

im on here to learn a little and makes some buddys.
as a child i was pretty ill so i spent most of my time in oxygen tents (yup im the boy in the bubble lol )
even by the time they unzipped me lol, i was left malnurishied and had hidiously low bodyweight,
being away from school and education not only left me with poor grammac skills, but kinda of left me unknown to my school buddys
i was just the little sick skinny kid.

life plodded on until one day a dramatic turn came about,my dad who is a complete A hole, decided yet again to beat the crap out my mom, being about 9yrs olf there was little i cud do but whack him over the head with my toy gun,
needless to say altho my trusty six shooter had never failed me before, this day it came up a little shortand i was tossed aside like the kid i was.
this was my turning point, that night i promised myself,id never ever be able to be beat again and id never let a man put his hands on a women in fact i decided then that,
id make a vow to myself that no matter what,id never go by anyone that i cud help regardless of the price to pay.
i threw away all my inhalers and medication and said"i dobt need this,i will take charge of myself"

i also saw my first bruce lee movie and saw a little guy no one would push around.
so i started my little routine of bodyweight exercises,i grew stronger but no bigger or no muscles at all lol

soon as i was able to work and earn money i spent it on,martial arts classes
firstly karate then kickboxing then muaythia then classic western boxing
i kept it a secret from everyone.

when i got a little older i decided i need to look better,i was very self aware and confidente but i looked like a little boy,(see my pics)even tho i was in my 20's
i upped my bodyweight stuff and filled out a little,i eventually stumbled upon weights but to be honest i didnt have much idea and followed stuff from magazines
with little idea about form etc,etc

i decided to educate myself got online and studied rotuine and styles,
i finally started to gain a little weight.
at this present time im better than i was but still have a long way to go.

Wow, awesome story guy.

I spent a lot of time in oxygen tents myself for a couple years (6-9). But I had an awesome specialist that didn't want me on inhalers so I was put in swimming classes and day camp throughout the summer. He encouraged my parents to let me have a horse even though I was allergic to hay and animal dander and I built my strength through swimming, backpacking, canoeing, riflery, archery and stable/barn work.

My asthma hit me again a couple years ago and I ended up in the emergency room a couple times. So for the first time in my life I keep an inhaler with me. But it's not so bad. Most of the time I can work my way through an attack without meds.

That's the spirit! I'm waiting to write mine until after I go from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine via the Appalachian trail in 2009 after her kids graduate...although my hiking bud and I have been looking into trails out west...the book may just have to wait!

My hiking bud and I have both started to keep journals on our backpacking trips. Written and photographic. We are planning on bringing digital camera's with us when we do the AT so we can record our journey.

It actaully get funny to see the difference in how we 'see' and experience things. Like this past summer when I fell into a waterfall. I thought it was pretty hysterical. It freaked her out a bit until she realized I was laughing my backside off over the whole thing.

We do a short hike (4 miles or so) on Mondays and long hike (6-20 miles on Friday's.) We were going to start going overnights this past month. But my truck went on the fritz and needed some major repairs. So we'll start to do our overnight's next spring sometime. (We don't have enough cold weather equipment for overnights on the trail at this time.)

LOL! Thanks! It was an awesome place. Steep as heck uphill climb with our packs on. I did the downhill in my bikini bottoms and racerback tank and jumped in the falls to cool off afterwards. Then we had a couple miles back to my truck. That was one of my favorite hikes this year.

Default PushnPlates Bio

Name: Jared
Age: 31
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 180 lbs
Body type: ecto-mesomorph
Strengths: calves, upper-body overall build
Weaknesses: arms, low overall muscle mass
Goals: regain lost strength, and gain muscle mass (focusing on upper-body)

At the beginning of my junior year of high school, I weighed about 135 lbs standing 5'9" tall. My metabolism was very high from years of bicycling and BMX racing. My love of this sport also gave me huge calf muscles and good quadriceps (although to a lesser degree). I began to lift weights that year as part of our school's physical education class. At the beginning of the year, I could bench press my body weight of 135 lbs for 1 rep. By the time the year was over (about 8 months later), my max was about 215 lbs. I was amazed at the strength gains that I had made in such a short time, but was rather disappointed at not gaining any noticeable muscle mass. The school year was over and I lost interest in trying to gain weight. I stopped working out altogether...

It is now 14 years later, and I am finally going to give it another go. I have since added a few lbs of fat and lost much of my super-fast metabolism of my younger years. My current weight is around 180 lbs. I have pretty well eaten whatever I want over the course of my life, never having a need for a particular diet, but I don't think I will be able to keep that up much longer (beginning to see the results of my laziness). My goals are about the same as they were back then, gain muscle mass (especially upper-body), and see strength improvements (which I have already proven that I can attain). As a reference for my strength gains, my bench press max now is 165 lbs.

My basic plan has not changed much since then either. The only major changes being to force myself to consume enough calories and protein to be useful, rest more, and follow a good supplement program. My workout will be about the same as then, with reps in the 2 - 10 range and moderate to heavy weights. Seemed to work back then (if I'd only had the calories). Workouts will probably be two to three per week, not lasting more than 45 minutes to an hour each, and focusing mostly on upper-body compound lifts using strictly free weights (which I have at my disposal). Going to keep the cardio low....may as well see if I can get this slower metabolism working for me!

Well, that's it in a nutshell.....suggestions etc, please let me know!

-Jared
