Name: Mark
Age: 43 Occupation: Safety Manager Hi everybody! Love this board. I am a retired USN, and now working as a civil servant. I have been lifting off and on since 1975. After I retired from the Navy in 2002, I got lazy, and balloned up to 306 lbs on a 5'10" frame. I must of been like 40% BF. I couldn't make it up the stairs without taking a break half-way up. My MIL turned me on to the atkins diet, and I was able to stick with it since Jan '04, now down to 218, @ 14.8% BF. My short term goal is to get to 205 @ 12% BF by July the 4th. My focus is on cutting fat first, building muscle second. My stats are: Weight: 218 Height: 5'10" Neck: 17.00 Chest: 44.50 Waist: 36.00 Hips: 42.00 Thigh: 26.00 Calf: 17.50 Arm: 15.50 Forearm: 11.50 See ya on the wirez!!!! torp |

Age:19
Occupation:recruit Height:6'0 Weight:173 Gym "experience": 3 years on and off, mostly on I'm from Nova Scotia but currently reside in Alberta till I get sent to Basic Training for the Canadian Forces{Army, infantry} in September. Unlike the American military the Canadian isn't desperate for recruits, in fact only 1/4 applicants even make it thru the application process and then rougly 3/4's get selected to goto basic. It took me a year of waiting for my selection before I finally got selected a few weeks ago. The CF uses a ridiculous merit system that rates your potential on your high school marks, volunteer experience, and organized sports. Unfortunately I never finished high school, my own fault .

As if you want to hear about me but what the hell.
Name: James Fralic Age: 34 Height: 6' Weight: 235 lbs Location: Canada Nova Scotia Married with 3 cats and 2 dogs. I live for 2 things. Sex and building my body. I am what you call a text book nympho with levels off the chart, the good thing is that it allows me to build my body without having to take anything not even supplements. I started out at 16 with 145 lb frame. Only trained arms and i guess thats why they are the size they are today. I didnt have any friends, girls thought i was too into weights and therefore weird. I was very agressive in school and had a quick temper. At the time i didnt know about my condition and people just thought i was an angery person. After being sent to mental health i got into the study of Human Sexology. (cool topic) and has helped me to this day with my errr problem. Working out seem to help alot in the agressive mode i was in so i hit it hard. After working out about 4 years later i started working my legs and my body weight shot up like crazy. I got into arm wrestling and later into wrestling. (TV style) hated it. I was with my girl and there were girls that wanted everything signed and i mean everything. Fine if i wasnt married. Trained people for a number of years including the Special Olympics Powerlifting Team. Got injuried 2.5 years ago and stopped working out all together. Was enough to make me think about killing myself more then a few times. The injury left me with damaged heels of my feet and therefore limited walking, no running ever. No squats. (Was my fav.) Things were getting the best of me. One day i snapped and joined this board as well as making a promise to myself that i was once again going to turn heads. Today i am better then ever, (still have my injury but i am living with it and working around it) Bigger, stronger and horney-er then ever. That is my lifes story in a nutshell. "Just a sexual thing" love that song |

After Reading everyone's post I feel like I know everyone now. Here is my story.
Age: 33 Height 6'2 weight: Right now 360 ( Yes that is too much right now and I am coming down every week. Job: Police Officer. Location: Birmingham Alabama. Work for Birmingham Southern College now. My story is in a nutshell. I have been lifting weights since I was about 10 years old ever since my My step dad Actually more of a father to me than my real dad. he had me lifting weights only doing the bar and getting my tech down training with him in Martial Arts learing to be flexable. Started playing football my 7th grade year and by my 9th grade year I was on the varsity football team in Louisiana where we lived. I moved to Mississippi my junior year in Highschool and played football there also and also got into Powerlifting. I won several meets in highschool before I graduated and went to Junior College to play Football at Hinds Community College . After that I went and walked on at Louisiana State University where I played until I finished college but dropped out after a nerve injury in my neck in 1993. At this time I went to work with an uncle of mine and kinda strayed away from weights and my roots for about 2 years where in this time frame about 1994 I got married and got into Law Enforcement. The first big jolt to me was in '94 when I went to the Police Academy and failed my PT run which was a blow to me and made me wake up. At this time I was a deputy sheriff and had a take home car . After I flunked out of the Academy I had to turn my car back in and I did not even have a car. At this time I had gotten my weight up to around 400 lbs. Thank God I only lived 3 miles from work, where at this time I bought a Mountain bike and started biking to work everyday. Early in 95 I got back into the gym. I started losing weight and going to the gym everyday as soon as I got a car. still riding to work on the bike and using the car to go to the gym . The gym was 20 miles away. I them meet a lifelong friend Named Robert Rothrock a massive bodybuilder who in 1990 beat Flex Wheeler in the NPC Junior Nationals. I will post some pics of him later if anyone wants to see them. I worked out with him for 4 good years and got into serious powerlifting making some really good gaing in the state Of Mississippi. Bech record of 610 squat 1,010 and a dead lift of 865lb. I stayed with the power lifting thing until I got a chance to go back to the academy , see all this time I was working back in a County Jail also. I was hired at a small Police Department named Canton Police Department. If you have seen the Movie " A time to Kill " that town is where I worked. that is where the movie was filmed. I trained hard getting ready for the police academy and got down from around this time about 320 to 300lbs. I passed the academy with flying colors actually getting out of shape going to the academy. I then worked in Canton and continued to train until we moved to Alabama where my wife got a you cannot pass this type of job. for two years I travele back and forth from Ms. to Alabama looking for a job in Law Enforcement and not being able to train like I wanted. I finally found a job here at this college where at first it was a bumpy ride because I did not want to work at a college. I gained all my weight back and finally got up off my ass about a year ago now and got back into the gym where now I have found another good work out partner and both of us are big guys which makes a great work out team. hopefully we want to do a show Bodybuilding that is sometime next year . He is a lot leaner than me so I am going to have to work extra hard at getting where I want . I have no children except for my two cats and I play a lot of Xbox where I also Moderate the forum on Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six 3. here is the web site if you are interested. http://www.splintercell.com. One more thing I am totally natural never have taken any steroids which I thank Rock ( Robert Rothrock ) keeping me away from that side of the Bodybuilding scene. I am this naturally strong and glad GOD gave me the strength that he has given me . I just want to stand on stage one day to be able to say I did it . Yes also Arnold has always been one of the greatest inspirations for me. I hope this was not too boring. |

Age: 27
Height: 5'9" Weight: 160 lbs Location: Greater Seattle Area, WA Hey gang! Glad I found ya! I'm not super serious about bodybuilding. However, I've tried the diet and cardio thing, the low carb thing, the starve yourself til your sick thing, and just about everything! The only time I ever really noticed a difference was when I started lifting more. Yeah the cardio helps a TON! But I hate it At this point I'm not fat, but I'm not fit either. I have more muscle now than I've had in my entire life. I used to be a waif when I was younger. In junior high and high school. They called me "Olive Oyl" haha! Then the 20's came on and slowly krept the pounds. I was up to 175 lbs, of all flab at one point, VERY depressing. I finally got sick of it and decided to TRY something. My friend was a distributor of these magical little pills that helped her out. So I tried them, with amazing results. I lost 25lbs like THAT without doing a THING! Eventually I hit a plateau and had to start exercising again. So it was cardio, but the bare minimum. I lifted a little bit but just to keep the tone and nothing more. I finally got back down to around 140 and was pretty happy with myself. But wanted to lose that LAST bit. So I quit eating. Not all together. But I know I wasn't taking in enough calories. I lost a little more and then it stopped. After a couple years, the pills ran out (the "new" ones are no longer effective without the ephedera) and the pounds slowly krept back on again. Eventhough I was doing cardio 5 days a week and lifting. I'm back to 160, but when I look at the pictures of myself at 175 I don't look anything like that. I'm close to that weight but I'm no where NEAR that flabby. It's still frustrating though, I guess most women want to see the change on the scale, since that's what we're used to. My husband keeps telling me it's the muscle weighs more than fat factor. I know I have a ways to go and I'm serious about it. I also have my 10 year high school reunion next summer and dammit I wanna look HOT! My first question is......what keeps YOU motivated? Do you carry "fat" pictures around in your purse or wallet? Do you have a "bad" memory that keeps you going? Do you just have the sheer desire to succeed? Some people need more than the desire and I'm sure you ALL know that there are those days when the desire isn't there at ALL, but we get up, put our gym clothes on and just GO! But I obviously still have not found that thing that keeps me going, or I'd still be in great shape. NO PILLS THIS TIME! Well cept for vitamins and such. Thanks all! |

I have been weight training for 17 years now. I seriously tried body building for a while and was even contemplating competition until New Zealand's female BB champion told me I'd never place unless I was on the juice
Despite that I am 35 now and have decided to get back into my training with avengence! I used to be a big weights ego trainer early on, but after spraining a disc in my lower back I have a new (more sane) approach to training. My 'tell the grandchildren' acheivements were: Body weight 70kg --> Squat 160 kg, Bench Press 110 kg I have tried various supplements and have found that FRAC (sorry I don't know it's full name) and Creatine have worked well for me. I am very happy that I found this site, and that there is a lot of friendly and clued up advice being given. |

Been goin hard at it 4-5 times a week now also using creatine and i've put roughly 14 kg's on in the last 6 months. Really happy about that. It's helped me in alot of things, especially my muay thai. I've gone up a weight division and won the Pan Pacific games 3 years in a row now My goal is to reach about 90kg's by the end of the year hopefully since i've hit the protein & L-glutamine along with the Creatine. Seems to be helping alot but guess only time will tell hey Freaked out today when i went to the gym cos as soon as i walked in i was gettin some really weird looks from every1..didnt know why until i went to the other section of the gym. First of all: Hello everybody!
This place is great! Anyway.... Male 20 165 lb. Location: Currently- Göttingen, Germany (studying abroad for a year) Usually- Davis, CA I've been lifting for about 4 years. 2 of those years were mainly me just losing weight while doing a little lifting. After I started going to Uni. I started what I thought of at the time as more serious lifting. I basically would lift 5 days a week, working a little of every muscle group. I quickly learned that this was bad, but what did I do....did the same thing, except just on M,W,F while I would do cardio in between. I didn't take long before I realized that I was still doing things wrong... 2 years later, I'm doing the same thing. Yes, I know this is stupid, but I was seeing results and more importantly I was happy with myself. My workout looked a little something like this: M,W,F: BB Bench Press Lying Leg Curl Seated Leg Press DB Curls Lat Pull Tricep Pulldown Crunches T,T: 20 min Bike 20 min Eliptical (whatever that machine is called) ...just to give you an idea Yeah, I know its bad, but thats why I want to change. Also, when I started Uni and began the "serious lifting" I also started taking ON 100% Whey and Amino Acids. Nothing too fancy. So now I'm in Germany and itching to start a real workout. I ordered some stuff: ON 100% Whey, ON Cassien, Glutamine, Prolab Creatine Mono (will try CEE later if I decide that I like creatine), Fish Oils, and I think thats it. I've had a good diet for probably about 4 years now and only think I need to work on spacing meals when it comes to nutrition. ANYWAY, it seems like I'm rambaling on, so I'm going to close this up. I'm just looking through a bunch of exersizes and seeing what I want to put in my workout. I plan work on 2 muscle groups per day with Sat. and Sun. as rest days. I lift by myself, so because of that alone I feel like I can't really push myself due to fear of pushing it too far and really hurting myself (dropping the bar on my chest... : / ). Other than that the only problem I seem to have is that I'm too scared to try Squats (which I really want to do) because of a bad knee and the fact, once again, that I lift alone. Many thanks for the future help that I'm sure that many of you will give me. BTW, Its too late to proof-read this mess, sorry. Hope I didn't put you to sleep. |

22 Y/O Female
Ht- 5'9 weight- 130 BMI- 18.5 Im currently just taking a strong multi, b12, creatine monohydrate and a soy-based protein. I have lost a great deal of body fat as you can see from my BMI and now I am attempting to put on lean muscle. I do mostly herbal supplements and vitamins rather than the NO(2) and other. I did take Pyruvate and ATTEMPTED NO2 but it seems they are made for the larger people because they all make me very ill. My work-out regimen is majority strength training and running. I work-out for about an hour and half 4 days a week and take 30 minute runs before the sun comes up! If anyone has suggestions on natural based supplements please feel free to forward me some advice! on a personal note I am in school current for a nursing degree (senior) and a premed biology degree (junior class standing) i have a minor in english and a nutrition certificate from a tech school. i currently work at a GNC store and at a hospital. leaves little time for upping the workout huh? |

Got intrerested in health after having a very severe care of bacterial meningitis seven years ago. I was in a coma for a month with complete kidney and liver failure, multiple heart attacks and strokes, too many seizures to count, a couple brain aneurisms, third degree open sores on ten percent of my body, lost half a thumb etc....
how's this for bulking and cutting? in four days i went from 160 to 205, then over the next two weeks i went down to 115. I think I can safely claim the largest short term gains and losses on this site haha. Anyways, after i got out of the coma (which they said I'd never do) and started having normal brain function again(also said would be impossible), the doctors told me I'd never walk again and never use my hands again (they were frozen stiff as a board- they would literally snap before being able to be pulled open). I lost 100% of the nerve sensation in my hands and feet, and remained on dialysis for months. so after about two years of between 8 and 12 hours a day physical and occupational therapy, and i have no idea how many hundreds or likely into the thousands of times passing out/puking etc from pain, I am now in the best shape I've ever been in. My nerve function has returned 100%, my kidney counts are better than average, i have no serious physical limitations (although the half a thumb does impede hitchhiking a bit oh yeah, and for the main doctor who said I'd never walk or use my hands again? thtree months later i got out of the wheelchair, took two steps, and managed to partially flip him off (with a smile, which he returned before i passed out). so pardon me if i don't have a lot of patience for people who incessantly ***** and complain about the stupid little grievances in life, or claim it is too difficult to quit smoking or things like that. and all you guys and gals, if i can reach the point i'm at now, ten you sure as hell can reach your goals too. the mind can overcome physical barriers of unimaginable proportions, you just gotta want it badly enough. oh yeah, im 26, obsessed with music (now playing guitar and bass, thank you very much Dr. You'll-never-use-your-hands-again, enjoy long walks on the beach, especially if followed by some nighttime cardio peace out y'all
