Okay, so maybe "dumb" questions aren't exactly the way to put it. Here's a long list of stickies and information that everyone should take a look at. Most of your questions can be answered here. Just remember to look here first before asking our favorite questions "what supplements should I take?" or "why am I not gaining any muscle?"
Diet: Body Building Nutrition (how much you should eat of what and etc.) The Zig-Zag diet, helps explain BMR and how to calculate how many calories you should be getting. Carb Cycling Reference, this is indeed an excellent diet but you need to know how to eat first so read the above before messing around here Weight-Loss: CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE DIET AND NUTRITION BOARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RESEARCH IT BEFORE DECIDING TO GO AND ASK YOUR STUPID FLAPPIN QUESTIONS ABOUT FAT BURNERS OR WHY YOU AREN"T LOSING WEIGHT WHILE EATING 1200 GD CALORIES A DAY!!!!!!!!!!! HIIT- a serious staple for shedding fat, read it up here Okay, you don't need to fix your diet or work out, click here to get the best fatburner on the market Workout Routines and Critique: 10 reasons why you might not be growing- This will answer 90% of your workout questions and provide you at least some fundamental knowledge Bodybuilding Stress Factors- nice post on how there are several factors to your workout that need to be taken into account Compilation of routines Principles of Training, read it if you're going to train... just read it, and do so now Also, I want to point out some key responses to some questions that are asked/posted so often we might as well have an automated response: I want to lose weight, blah blah blah blah- Oh yeah? Check your diet, look at the stickies in the diet section. Eat more often, less junk. Gain some lean body mass, weight train, fix your damn diet, do some cardio or HIIT, fix your damn diet, ignore fat burners unti you have everything else fixed, and for the love of everything holy, FIX YOUR DAMN DIET. I'm not gaining and muscle, blah blah blah blah- Hmmm... eat more. Lift more weight with less reps and get plenty of rest. Still not sure? See the last two sentences and read them until they sink in. Go ahead, we'll wait... Anything to do with fat burners/supplements- You need to get your fundamentals in check. Get a good routine, make sure your diet is right and give it some time. Then, if you'd really really like that extra push, ask about fat burners or supplements but make sure you let us know your routine and diet otherwise you will be told to get your diet/routine in check. The bottom line to everything here is: this is a bodybuilding board. Everyone here will help you with honest questions about damn near everything to do this body building and weight loss but make sure you research first. You can sculpt your body to your liking, it IS possible, but it's going to take some work. Bodybuilding is NOT a hobby around here. It's a way of life. You lift, eat, and sleep all with one single purpose: to become what you want. The real question is, do you really want it? Are you going to put effort into it? Research it? Take advice and apply it to real life? Are you willing to alter your lifestyle to achieve your goal? WARNING: We are all a bunch of cynical, weight wielding, muscle brained, cold hearted, hungry, bastards. We will help you to the best of our ability if you show a valid and real interest, but we will also not try to pad our criticism...much. Those of us who have made results know exactly what we did to get there and we will tell you but we will come off as assholes. Don't take this the wrong way, suck it up, take the criticism and someday soon, you will be one of us, dishing out criticism and advice like the rest. Tired and grouchy seems to describe me to a T today, lol. The real reason I wanted to make this thread up was so there was a thread dedicated to people that came here for help and didn't know where to look (a lot of these things are spread out amongst all the individual forums).
I also think that when someone researches something on their own, it holds more weight for them. I'm not gonna lie, when I first came here, I think I posted up a lot of questions like some other newbies but then I saw someone say something about the stickies and really got into it. If I had someone spell it out for me, I think I may have ended up giving up and saying f*ck it. But reading through all the stuff here gave me a sense of purpose. I know I came off as an asshole above but... okay, that was probably just because I'm tired and grouchy lol. But the title was deliberate, saying "come here before posting" isn't quite the same as saying "come here or be labelled a dumb ass". I doubt this will stop the questions but it's worth it if it helps people find the information to figure out their own stuff without us breaking them down and inevitably hijacking their threads. Plus it helps prevent the inevitable asshole from saying "OMG YOU'RE STOOOPID!" when some newb posts what he thinks is a good plan without reading. Edit: Btw, have you guys noticed how similar your avvies are? Is there some "picture of my back" club I don't know about? lol |

I also seem to think that, for the most part, the verbal "sparring" that ends up going on drives noobs away anyhow because they get confused when vets debate. These things are basics that EVERYONE can use and work with, provided they put the effort into researching a little and reading a little. Cranky or not - it's a good concept.

You guys all make valid points.
Hey Jay, I didnt think you were being a A-hole. My only concern is "scaring" them away, the ones in general who come and read that they must research the stickies before posting, etc... I guess hostile replies or smart as$ answers can do the same though I dont know, I can see both sides of the coin here |

To be honest, some of the questions are outrageous and beyond belief, so I think the thread has merit.
The people who dont know a single thing about lifting or eating and then they come in here with the same lazy persona and they want to be spoon-fed with everything...It's this same lazy mentality that got them into the predicament they are in and now they think this work ethic will transition itself into a healthy lifestyle???? C'mon! Do some work first, take the steps and walk all on your own before you can be taught how to run. Maybe just a tiny little witty bit of reading on the net maybe? Learn some basic principals and common fundamentals. Because if thas was a political debate forum, we at least expect the participants involved to at least know who the President is, etc....
