What do you mean by "core". Core as in your body's core or core as in staples to your routine?

You guys are confusing me.

Some refer to Squats, deads, bench as the "core" of a routine, meaning they should be in every routine. Also known as "staples". Others can be SLDL, Bent BB rows, Leg Press, etc. Heavy compound movements.

Now about the actual "core" as in center of the body, that is broken up into posterior core and anterior core, meaning front and back. anterior core work, aka core work, is simply ab exercises and oblique exercises, some consider the serratus anterior as core work as well. For the posterior core (the most neglected parts since when we use the word "core" we just think of abs usually) there are many things. You can do SLDL, Pullthroughts, Glute Ham Raises, Reverse Hyperextensions, etc....

Hope that helps since I am still unsure of the question. LOL

Are you asking us or telling us?

Your core is your entire midsection...not just your abs and obliques....Your midsection has a front and a back.

liftnw8z gave a good explanation.

Thanks for all the response to my question. "Heavy Compound Movements" is really the question I'm asking. I'm new & don't really know about all the different muscle groups. I really do appreciate everyone's patience here, Thanks! Someone posted doing Dead lifts as a core excersize (which I'm now doing) and I've been doing squats right along. As these are heavy compound movements - are their any others I should be doing? I also read doing a rowing excersize to help w/ biceps - started that one too.
Please bare w/ me if I don't make sense right away - I do catch on quick though.
Thanks for ALL the help, I'm really glad to be here. dave

Well, then in that case:
1) Your answer was wrong...well, incomplete.
2) Your question had been answered already by liftnw8z in the post right above yours.
