Default New to the Board, just 1 ?

Hey guys, I heard this is the place to be for lifting info and what not. It seems as if there are a lot of guys who have a lot of great info. I've been lifting since my freshman year of college on and off ( I am now 24) and I have recently got back into it full swing. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but here goes my situation...

I lift with a group of 4 guys and obviously we compare each others benchs, curls, tris, ect...My problem is this I was always told that a great way to increase your bench is to work your upper chest with the incline and in the long run that will help your regular bench as well. Well, I can incline more than any of the other guys I lift with, but yet they can all out flat bench me by a safe margin. Is that common? Different body types? Is there something common that people do wrong that would cause this? I appreciate your input, even if you laugh at me, lol. Have a good one fellas!
