Get serious with your diet and food consumption. Cardio will be your second best friend.

Hi and welcome aboard, Just sort out a cardio routine by cycling or running etc, your weight training should not also be cardio training meaning dont do high rep training hoping this will also burn the fat, you will be wasting your time in the gym, heres an idea of what rep ranges to aim for, 6 - 8 reps is a good all rounder for size and strength.

1-5 reps 85-100% Neural Strength & power, little hypertrophy

6-8 reps 75-85% Neural & metabolic Strength & Hypertrophy

9-12 reps 70-75% Metabolic & Neural Hypertrophy & some strength

13-20+ reps 60-70% Metabolic local endurance, some hypertrophy, little strength

Default Jim is very right

I have had friends around the same size tell me they had to do the elipticle instead of running. Better on the knees. I have found that if you increase the resistance and elecation you can get a little more intensity at the same speeds. Great for the quads and hams too. And if you alternate with moderate jogging you will definately notice the difference in your knee soreness. Go slow and work into it, but stay motivated. That is the biggest thing. Make sure you have realistic goals. And you'll be melting away in front of your own eyes. I like taking before and periodic pics. It keeps you motivated seeing the difference.

Default Been there.

Hi, Mojo.

I used to be 350lbs and am currently 240lbs. I've the weight in a little over a year in a half. I dropped 50.5 pounds in 3 months. The way I did it which I hear was not the smartest, but it worked for me was to work out as much as I could. Let me note that I was freshly off of crutches due to a serious car accident which had me in the hospital for 28 days, then I was in a wheelchair for 6 months and then on crutches for another 4-5 months. I completely shattered my tibial plateau(Knee) which still needs to be surgically replaced, and broke my humorous(Upper Arm bone) completely in have with a 3 1/2" break, both on the left side of my body, these left me in need of 21 pins and 4 plates, so If I can lose weight in this condition, I believe anyone can.
I started with a healthy diet and doing as much cardio as I could, when you start it's not easy I know, I used the sit-down bike for a few weeks, then I went to the regular bike, once I could do that for 25min at high resistance with ease, I switched to the stair stepper. I also worked out with weights. I used light weights due to my arm injury and I did not want to put on mass, I just wanted to lose weight. I did this EVERYDAY for 74 days straight before taking a day off. I was working out on average 2 1/2 to 3 hours a day after a month or so. I did 6-7 days a week for 7 or 8 months, I know this is not for everyone but it worked for me, of coarse I slowed down to 4-5 days a week working for 1 1/2 hours at the gym on average now.
Dedication and determination is the biggest part of losing weight, you just need to want it more than you want that greasy burger and fries.
