Default New Years Resolution, and sticking too it!

Hello, new to the forums, and also new to working out.
fact of the matter is, I'm underweight i believe i'm a 25 Year old, Male
only 120 Pounds, thanks to my fast metabolism, and never being in shape.
i dont know about my body fat, or i would share it. i'm only 5'5 1/2" tall.
and wanting to gain some weight. Not really looking into getting a ton of
mass added to me, just looking to get up to around 130- 140'ish is my goal.
The closest gym around is about an hour away. unless i try to go to the local
high school, but there pretty strict. So i am either looking into picking up some of my own equipment, or just doing some military style training, pushups pullups etc etc dont know which would be best for gaining weight. Any ideas of equipment, and a starting routine? i understand the calorie intake i must do, but what other kind of supliments to take? thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums...

What calorie intake did you plan on consuming? 120lbs even with your height is indeed skinny (no pun intended.) Upping your food consumption is going to be the best thing that you can do.

I'd buy every newspaper in-sight and i'd roam the online classifieds for used equipment. For example, I picked up my bench, 2 bars and alot of weight at a garage sale for 50 bucks. It's not the best, but it works.

I bought my adjustable dumbells at Dick's Sporting Goods and I remember they were pretty cheap. Hunt around, you should be able to find a good deal somewhere especially after xmas where people are replacing their old stuff with new, etc.

Without any equipment, who knows what routine to suggest lol.

Why is it that shorter people always add in the extra measurements? 5'5 1/2. I am about 6'2 3/4", but I just round up and say 6'3". If I were you, I'd round up to 5'6". Hell, maybe even 5'7". That's like saying, I'm 5 and a half years old. You don't hear people saying, "I'm 27 and 7 months old!"

Just messing, but it's true.

I found some great stuff for cheap on craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums. It is nationwide, so I know that you can find it. It is online classifieds.

Well, i went to sears today. picked up a bench, easy curl bar and some dumbells, was around 100 bucks with weights. and i do plan on upping my calorie intake. I couldnt tell you my diet thus far only thing i can say, it isint much, and it isint good :P I will continue to read up on the forums, hopefully i can come up with a good plan for myself =)

and i just thought it would be beneficial to post my exact height, as i am really wanting to get a good response =) even tho you were kidding, just figured i'd respond.

And as for the reason why i am underweight. One, My Metabolism, and i think the other thing that is contributing to it, is my anxiety/panic attack problems, as a few back, i had one that left me in the hospital. and ever since then they have been pretty bad. So hopefully, if i can get fit once again, i can overcome my anxiety, and have a better outlook on myself and life in general =)

Cheers!

And thanks for responding

Definitely try to get lots of proteins in your body, and good (slow burning) carbs (from fibre) and healthy fats like those found in olive oil. There is tons of great info on this site to be read and will help you definitely!
