Question Tell it to me like I'm a 2yo

It's been years (high school) since I can honestly say I was fit, I am now 35+
And it has dawned on me that the line between voluptuous and big girl is on the horizon, the panting when walking a block or 2 flights isn't the asthma flaring up, I am fregin big I've gone from a UK 10/12 to uk size 16 in 4 years and my fitness level is scary I walked less than a mile to the shops (got motivated) and thought I literally was having a heart atack I felt so bad I was litterally going to ask a stranger to drop me home (Scary)

Anyway I am tired of looking at women and down playing their appearance and down playing how good they look simply because I use to be them and am jealous it's sad.

I have taken steps to sort my health out thouh truthfully my objective was to get my old beyonce esque body back :-), I really want to actually live long enough to to see my child grow up (planning for one in the next year or so) and be able to kick a ball around :

I have joined a gym I go 4 days a week for about an hour, but the truth is the only peice of equipment that I feel comfortable and right about using is the treadmill, I'm scared to use the weights because I don't ant to bulk up as my body in it's prime was what you would call athletic ie:broad shoulders/back long arms, long thick legs ect (swimmers body), I don't know what I should be doing so I walk/run/ in a sauna suit for an hour then sit in the steam room for 30mins glad I'm excercising ut not sure if I've really done anything.
I've joined a local gym as I've previously spent the big bucks for a gym I never went to, so I opted for the no frills gym this time incase I punk out the downside is the 2 trainers seem to spend all the time with the people who look like they are training for competion, and all the classes ie: spin combat training arobics are full of people who are actually participating for the whole hr without dropping out and I know I have to stop every 10mins when I do my taebo with Billy Banks at home.

I guess 'm asking for some workout tips/routine

I am 5'7 190lbs medium build
goal to get down to 140, and fit, ironicaly my body is tight/solid (thanks to genetics) but I have batwings (crease/fat pockets in the back), big butt although I'm a black girl who never had a ass until 4 yrs ago lossing it/some won't hurt and my legs are big again solid but big (what do you do to slim the legs down?????
Please help, oh yes and and where can I purchase Authentic Hoodia as all the double talk 10/1 20/1, concentrate, extract ect does my head in

Thanks in advance
Dee

Body for Life - buy the book. Worth every penny. Worked for me and the missus. It gives advice about diet and exercise, and did I mention it works ?

Thanks Gymnut,
I will get it, working out is mentally draining, one person says use weights then you do and someone else is like no you have to use light weight and repitions to lose, then somelse will say you have to use heavier weights thats not enough, you should drink warm water, no drink cold water, eat 3 square meals a day, no eat 6 and on and on

Gym guy can you recommend a reputaable site to order Hoodia and something I've read about called CLA (Conjugated Linoliec Acid) which supposedly helps speed up weight loss as their sooooo many websites I don't want to be ripped off with rubbish products example: the Hoodia websites

Thanks again

Good luck to you. Sounds like about 18 million people have given you thier expert advice. Enjoy this website, there are some truly knowledgeable folks here and some of the ladies are terrific contacts for you to get advice, info from. I don't want to name any for fear of leaving one out - but there are a few regulars and you'll figure out who they are by their honesty and the results they've attained.

Again - welcome back to the fitness fold, and good luck.

I can send you a private message with some of the sites I've ordered from in the past. BB4U discourages us from promoting other websites to buy stuff from, because then we'd be buried by spammers.
Lately I don't buy much of anything except protein supplements.

Thanks, and yes everyone seems to be a persoal trainer when they realize your just getting it together and some of it puts you off so that's one of the reasons i decided to look for a forum where I could get advice/info from people who have found methods that work not just slim people who have a lot to say (like I once did), I will definitly make the rounds in the forum once I've set my training plan and stuck with it for a week or 2, I should have body for life by the end of the week and by monday decided on my course of action, action being key just tired of complaning about my body so I'm going to help fix it up :-)

I look forward to getting to know all of you out there

Dee

Welcome deebeer. As others have stated, the ladies here can give you tons of advice. They are a great source of knowlege and inspiration.

One thing I have to say is "Don't be afraid of the weights". Lifting weights will NOT make you manly or obscenely muscular. Look at some of the ladies on this site that have been lifting for years. Hawkwind comes to mind. She will tell you that lifting weights, there by adding more muscle, will help you lose weight! AND, when you lift weights, you have got to eat to help repair, build, and maintain that new muscle. This increases your metabolism so you burn more calories. In simple terms: Having more muscle causes you to burn more calories.

A sensible, clean diet along with a solid cardio and weight training routine will allow you to eat 5 or 6 small, well balanced meals every day AND LOSE WEIGHT WHILE DOING IT!. Don't just take my advice ask almost anyone here about how they have shed weight, increased their muscle mass, and actually eaten more often! Sounds strange, but it does work.

Good luck! We are here to help.
