Default Beginner ... creatine?

Hi,

Just joined these forums...
I am 6ft.. 160lbs... have been working out at home with weight bench, barbells and dumbbells.. sticking to main bulking up exercises... squats, bench presses, deadlifts, push-ups.... I was using whey protein.. I moved from 156 lbs to 161 lbs in around 1 month..

I want to bulk up now.... will be increasing weights, joining a gym in the next 1-2 months..
I have been reading about taking creatine products... for a beginner like me, which one should I use? Are there any major side-effects of creatine? Like bloating/acne... what would be a good product for a beginner like me? Please help! Thanks!

You can try any of the varieties out there...regular creatine monohydrate, CEE, or kre-alkalyn. All will give you good results. Read my sticky post in the supplement section titled..."Facts On Creatine". It should answer a lot of your questions.

The only side effects that some have reported with creatine is the bloating, cramps, diarehha.

Thanks both of you for your replies...
I plan to start off with creatine monohydrate...
Nitehawk, as you said in your post, I do not plan to 'load' but rather... go for a gradual transition to just about 10g of the monohydrate per day... just to see how my body responds..
Thanks, once again...

It's probably a better idea to mix it with something with more carbs then your protein drink... It'll boost your absortion a lot thru the insulin spike that simple carbs will give you.

When I took regular creatine monohydrate. This is how I took it..

I believe the best way to take creatine monohydrate is just put a heaping teaspoon in your mouth and drink a glass of grape juice. After that, drink another 8-12 oz. of water. No mixing or residue.

Ready my sticky on Facts of Creatine.

Personally I've been taking mono creatine since the first day, I don't know if it's the creatine helping me, but I already see major progress after 7 days, I would say that creatine is the safe way to go. I love how people judge you when they ask you what supps you take and you say creatine, they are like: AHH I heard it's bad for X thing... I even heard someone saying that proteins powder + creatine was bad... seriously wtf? Even doctors are pathetic sometimes, you really need to look on wikipedia, BB4U forums and studies, do not listen to random people. I remember my gym teacher at school saying that we need 100G of creatine a day to see effect and it was crap... wtf bro, personally before I say something about an unusual thing, I read about it before speaking up.

edit: Put all chances by your side, creatine, diet, program, proteins! And you will grow X2 than someone that don't read. My friend of mine doesn't care about everything on the internet and only ask help from a trainer, no wonder why he's not making any progress since. You need to be informed and change your life style. Conclusion: Creatine Monohydrate is a good supplement (I think I went to far but I had to spit all that out lol) even if it's wasnt the topic.

Hey jnewman, how's it going man...

First off, I want you to look at the title of your thread:

"Beginner....creatine"

That's like saying:

"First time driver...Porsche"

I don't know how old you are but you said it yourself. You're a beginner, what's the point of taking creatine? People like yourself and Zealock can't even gauge their progress and the results they get when they take supplements because you guys don't even know what it's like to get results using the basics:

EAT+LIFT+SLEEP

All you need are the basics. Get your diet down first and if you're trying to gain some weight, throw in a weight gainer if you'd like. Half of the time people think creatine itself is what's going to get them bigger and the other half, they end up saying things like what Zealock said:

What do you mean you don't know if it's helping you but you already see major progress after seven days? If you jump into supplements headfirst without ever having any experience/results establishing a basic foundation with supplements such as a multi, whey and maybe a weight gainer if you're bulking, how can you tell that what you're taking is helping you progress if you have nothing to compare it to? How do you know that the results you're getting are because of creatine or whatever other supplement you're taking ATM and it's not another factor? For all you know, your body might not even be responding to what you're putting in it and you on the other hand, thinking you're getting "great results" from what you're taking.

I'm not trying to put anyone down here nor make fun of anyone for what they do/take but things on here are getting kind of ridiculous. Just scroll down the recent threads that have been post and look at the topics:

"Beginner...creatine"

"14 year old...NO-Xplode/Creatine?"

and the list goes on and on....

All lecturing aside, if you're interested in supplementing creatine, scratch monohydrate and go to the good stuff. Kre-Alkalyn or CEE. I can personally recommend Sci-Fit's Kre-Alkalyn 1500. Very easy to take, 100% absorption rate, no insulin spikes to worry about and no chance of creatinine getting in your body.

From a quick search you should find several threads on Kre-Alkalyn:

kre alkalyn questions

When to take creatine before workout?

Kre-alkalyn ?

Hope this helps you out jnewman

BUMP^.....work out for 6-12 months with just EAT-SLEEP-TRAIN, amd see what it gets you - you'll be amazed. Once you get to a steady base, then start the creatine and other supps if you wish -you'll be able to gage thier effectiveness much more. BBBUUUTTT......if you just have to take creatine I would try the Kre-alkalyn as everyone has pointed out - I have yet to try it but I'm buying some after my next cyle and using it possibly in my pct. Good luck!
