DEN32 will become famous soon enough
Default new guy here

This looks like a great site. I have a couple of questions, but i'll tell you a little about myself. I'm 32 years old, 6ft1in 195lbs. I've put on 10lbs since starting working out. I want to bulk up a bit so I've been taking weight gain and protein drinks. I really want to put on some mass in my legs. This has been my routine for the past month. Monday to friday,Monday, legs and back Tuesday, chest and triceps, Wednesday, biceps and shoulders Thursday chest and triceps, Friday legs. The next week I'll do biceps and shoulders on Tuesday and thursday, chest and triceps on wednesday. Can anyone tell me if this routine is good or does it suck. Any suggestions would be helpfull.

Welcome to the site.

Personally, I wouldnt do legs and back on the same day. These are large muscle groups and they take a lot of beating so I dont feel you will benefit much by doing them together.

Do you want a 5 day split or something different?

hey Den,
Working out 5 days a week to gain is a little on the overdoing it side. Everybody is different but I found out from experience that 3-4 days split is more than enough, in many cases I only lift 3 days a week when I go heavy.
The rule of thumb is that less is better, rather to be a little undertrained then overtrained ! If you are willing to accept this fact, then you will make progress if not you are going to be another statistic!
Welcome to the board!

I think its a must to split up your sessions. You can't go along weight training every day or you wont have any energy left by the end of the week. I only go 3-4 days a week like vassille said. If you can't get to the gym on the weekend, then I would do a monday, wednesday, friday routine.

I'm glad that there are people here willing to learn, Dexter, and this site can make a difference! I'm always learning myself.
