I'm a total newbie to the whole business of bodybuilding. Just wanted to say this site is awesome, since coming across it a few weeks ago. It's non-intimatidating. I've already learned quite a bit from the little bit of reading I've done. I'm definetely more interested in weight training since finding this site. As well as more motivated.
A question though, body fat % how seriously can you take the results you get from online tools? I've done all those online quizzes that give you your BMI and BF% etc... I was thinking of getting calipers. I've read that you don't get as accurate results at home, that it should be done by a professional..(I don't have any facilites around to go and have it done) Is it worth my time and money to do it at home? I want to get off the obsession of the scale.. And track my results more specificly than just by my weight. |

Welcome and about your question. DO NOT GET ONE OF THE SCALES THAT SAY THAT CAN TELL YOU YOUR BODY FAT % BY STANDING ON IT!!!!! I bought one for like 50 dollars and it is was basically like throwing 50 dollars down the drain. The best way for you to find out your body fat % and keep a running tab on what it is, is to ask someone at the gym. It will only take them a few minutes and you can ask them as often as you'd like. (I'm pretty sure it's part of their job). Again welcome,
