So diagnosis from the Chiro is Facet syndrome. Bad is news is since I have basically just been dealing with this issue for about 15 years and all the locked up weight training and log tossing and, lately BJJ, has really degenerated the joints and they are pretty up. Basically I shoulda known something was wrong when I constantly have to shift my weight after standing for 15 mins or so, especially if I bothered to remember standing at attnetion for hours when I was in the Army and not having issues at all. The warning signs were there but I ignored them, took pain killers, iced, and heated and band-aided the symptioms, ignoring the problem. Well hopefully this will get me fixed up in the nextfew months.
So I have to see him 2x a week for a month then re-evaluate to see where we go from there.
In the meantime I have to cut out all deadlifting and squatting.
I am planning to do hypers for lower back and zerchers for squats, opinions? I think that will leave my back pretty safe.
Anyway, after getting some MAJOR adjusting (my spine sounded like bubble wrap) and some time on the electro muscle shock thing (cool invention, need one at home) I was really really sore. I was amazed, felt like I had been deadlifting. I skipped back and will go tonight.
Let me know what type of workout I am looking toward for back da guys.
Thanks for the input.

You should get this checked out by more than just a Chiropractor.
Go see your Doc bro if you have not already.

Yeah, I have an appt next week with h doc. Thing is I have talked with docs in the past and always just got muscle relaxers and the ice/heat talk nd that fixes it for a bit till I go DL or squat or do a highland game or a BJJ tourney then it is swollen and achey again.
After my session yesterday I left feeling like a million bucks. Like I really didnt realize my lower back always hurts, my brain just knows how to block that pain. Yesterday I was really painfree and it was like when I first got my CPAP machine, waking up and not being tired and realizing that is what a good night's sleep is like. I realized what no back pain was like. I really think the chiro is right, but am gonna go to the doc.

You are probably right bro

BUT in order to really see what the issue is, you need to demand an MRI when you see your doc for that appointment....
Tell them the pain is worse than it is, whatever you need to in order to get that MRI.

Otherwise, it's like guess work, or trial and error and you deserve alot more than to be an experiment, even if that Chiro is more than likely right.
You need to be in the game for many years to come dude

Healing thoughts go your way my friend

Doctors suck. Hardly any of them really understand the idea of diagnosing and just throw pills around. I've spoken to doctors for the past 8 years about my lower back problems and they all just shrug it off. Idiots.

Thanks bro, you are right and I will be talking to the doc about getting pics taken of my back. In the meantime I am gonna follow the chiro advice.

My same boat. It gets better for a bit but as soon as I truly use my back it feels like shiat again.
The chiro said that after a few months I will be able to jog again if i wanted to, on the right surfaces. I have not been able to job since I was a kid, will be great.

I agree - f*ck Western Medicine...

My chiro changed everything for me, while other doctors were just making the pain go away (temporarily). The answer isn't always a fkn pill or surgery...

Sean,

Didn't mean to hit submit - good luck with that bro. I've been through the back pain and isn't fun (I had 3 cracked verts).

I'm very fortunate that my back is the last thing to ever bother me now, and I fully believe it is because I am proactive and take extra special care of it, both training and holistically.

Boyd

Thanks Boyd.
I am sure I will get over this, just like I have gotten over all the other sh!t my body tries to throw at me. Just means I have to more aware of what I am doing and use great form all the time...and be proactive, like you say.

Fvck not squatting!
That being said:

Back Squats: started light 135x15, 225x10, 225x8
working sets 275x5-6 for 5 sets

Leg press: 10 platesx8x3 sets, 8 platesx6x3, 6 platesx4x3

Back starting to feel tight - did some stretching and felt better a little

Lying leg curls - 150x8x4
seated leg curls - 140x8x3

abductor, adductor maching for 2 sets of each

Calves including using the leg press, donkey, and calf machine

15min ellipitical

Back was tight again so did some stretching when I got home and stretched out the legs also.

Not bad. disappointed that I am down in squats again after getting back to 315. I know I can squat 315, just am being smarter and wiating for chiro treatment to set in and work.

Chiro visit yesterday..that muscle stimulator electro shock things is a biotch...
After being on that fo 10 mins then getting adjusted I just wanted to crawl in bed my back was so sore, so I did =( Lame yes but the big picture is getting well again.
Busy weekend, girls first wrestling meets, Christmas shopping, clean house, so forth. Will prolly miss Saturday but will get in Sunday for at least shoulders and cardio.

My back is sore as sh!t today, feels like I was deadlifting yesterday.

BJJ class again today.

Th chiro thing is really starting to make a difference. I am still sore after a treatment but i really feel looser in my lower back. Last night he did my neck and I tell you, I can't remember the last time I could turn my head that far before..why the hell did i not do this long ago??

B/c to many people think it's a crock and insurance is a b!tch about it sometimes...

I went to a chiro when I was a teenager after I ****ed up my back in football practice and the bus I was on got rearended.

At that time, I got chronic headaches. After 4 weeks of the Chiro...NOTHIN! Then my insurance stopped covering it and my parents couldn't afford it anymore As soon as I get my credit card paid off, I'll be back in one of those offices rain or shine!

True..insurance is a *****. They are not covering this yet till i meet the $200 deductible but hey...he charges $25 a pop and I see him 2x a weeks..that is $50 and I feel great after just a week and a half..money spend wisely IMHO. I used to spend more than that in a month for supps and shiat as a youngster so this is cool.
