Default YEAWELIFT'S Rippetoe Journal - SHUT UP AND LIFT!

It's time to SHUT UP AND LIFT!
A little about myself.
I am 5'10 135lbs, and just turned 19. I have always been very skinny growing up, and never really gained any weight. I played soccer for 6 years and was always very fit, however others were always bigger/stronger...etc Never really had a father, and I am an only child so no influence to lift weights growing up.

Well times have changed, and now I want to put on some serious mass! My diet can be found here Is my diet ok? keep in mind I changed it up a bit and spread out some of the bigger meals. Sick of people telling me to EAT so thats all I do now!! It is a HUGE change for me, because I only use to eat 2-3 meals a day max/lots of junk food.

Goals: Have 1 plate on the big 3. Also to gain 30lbs (165lbs) by Christmas.

My starting lifts:
Squat: 95lbs
Bench: 65lbs
Dead: 95lbs
(will update the rest on wed)

Default Workout #1 10/15/07

Squat: 95x5 95x5 95x5
Bench: 65x5 65x5 65x5
Deadlift: 95x5
Dips: (2x8)

Knew I could do that weight with squats, and it was pretty easy. Was stalling at the bottom a bit in second set because I went down to far.

Have not been on a bench press in years. Started off with just the bar. The weight was easy but my control is bad, and the bar was moving side to side. My upper body is so weak...So I put some 25's on each side (so dumb) and did a 1 rep. I barley got it up and almost got stuck haha! Got some little 10's and put those on was much easier. My form was ok, but felt uncomfortable either my head was too far up the bench or too low, also did not know how high or low the setting should be on the bars. There was also this smokin hot milf on the bench across from me had the best rack I ever seen. (sorry no pics) She was benching the 5lbs and me the 10lbs I felt like a girl

Deadlift went good but felt weird, because I never did it before I guess. My form looked ok in the mirror but was probably bad.

I did not think this routine would be that hard but it was, and got me sweating like a hooker in church. Overall good workout 7.5/10

You can't go down too far on squats. Might as well start out doing them right now.......
