Hey man, thanks for dropping in.

I weighed in today at (a ridiculous) 350 pounds. I'm starting to resemble Glenn Ross (but without the performance)

I'm not too worried about how out of shape I look, or how heavy I am at the moment. I want to get my numbers up, side effect of that is that I'll probably slim down a bit as well.

I went to the gym earlier this morning. The first workout was brutal, almost fainted in the gym.

The numbers don't look too horrible, thankfully. Except for the shoulder press.

495 Squat
225 Seated BB shoulder press
405 Shrug

When I get home after work, I'll post sets / reps.

I'll also throw some measurements up as a baseline.

Glad to see you back over here!!! But it's even better to see you back in the gym.
I've had my share of setbacks as well, time off, etc...

The place has changed quite a bit, died down, people gone, banned etc...LOL

I rediscovered this today,

T-Nation.com | All Powerlifters Are Fatties!!

damn....just...damn.

Oh, don't mind the source. I'm not a fan of t nation.

I kept looking at my numbers from the previous year or so...and I can't help but get more and more pumped up. I want to flip cars by next year!

The only thing that keeps on going in my head is "You where gone...but now you're back again. They're not ready for this!"

I have no idea who the f*ck they are, but I'm excited. hahaha

Stay tune for monday. It's gonna get raw.

hmm...I've been struggling with a question for most of my weekend...
It's like a nagging feeling in the back of my head...

Who says you need to be fat to be a successful power-lifter?

Of course there are various extraordinarily strong lightweights ...but, seriously...
Weight == leverage. I'm pretty sure it won't be the same dead-lifting 700 pounds when you're 200 pounds as opposed to 300 pounds. But who said the extra 100 pounds has to be all blubber? Is it that unheard of to be a fairly lean, strong powerlifter?

The obvious example that comes to mind is Mariusz. Also, Jesse Marunde (r.i.p...)
Steroids play a part, sure...but c'mon...there has to be a natural powerlifter out there who's strong as f*ck but walks around in teen or sub-teen bf year round...

I'm gonna take a good hard look at myself and my training and diet the coming week.
I'm very proud of myself that I've achieved the numbers I've achieved in the past...the 315 shoulder press in particular...but ****. People shouldn't have to ask me if I lift weights!

/rant

It'll either be more of the same...or something completely different for me this week.
Whatever it is, I'll stick to it once my mind is made up.

If I'm gonna cut...I'll take pictures to keep my progress. If it's strength again...it'll be numbers and lift attempts.

Let's make something happen this year, Bodymass.

What about say a Derek Poundstone? He's probably 320lbs and looks to be in great shape.

Yeah Derek is no joke. He is/was a police officer (not sure if he still is) could you imagine getting pulled over and having him block out the sun when he came up to your window?

There was an article on him in a Muscle and Fitness awhile back if I remember right, he talked about some of his training and what his daily chow intake was. I'll see if I can't find it when I get home (if I remember).

Dude, our boy POWERJIM is a prime example. Even though he is not techinically a "powerlifter" any more, he's lost massive weight and retained most of his strength.

He got up to I think 350 lbs at his peak. He then one day decided he was going the "healthy route", decided to clean up his diet in a MAJOR WAY. In a little over a year, he went from 350 and shredded himself down to about 210 lbs... He didnt lose as much strength as you'd imagine and because of his conditioning, he actually was able to handle the weights a little easier in many areas.

The hardest part will be finding a way within yourself and within your means, to you diet down accordingly and retain most of your muscle mass as possible. Do that and you'll still be one strong mofo in the end

I couldnt find any recent pic's of PJ as he actually isnt on here much at all any more (going thru some things in his life), but he looks great. Check him out here from his profile pic

You should PM him bro

Do what YOU want to do, but I don't think "I am a powerlifter" should be an excuse to be undisciplined.

I agree - people should not have to ask if you go to the gym... If you work hard, look like it, bro.

I like that. That's the kick in the ass I need, thank you!

Thanks to all of you, really!

I'm using Fitday to work out my diet. Went out and bought out half the supermarket today. Good stuff,Tilapia, chicken breast and lean steak.

This log will keep me focused...I took some pictures today ("before") and I'll post them up in 2 months with some "during" pics (dec 3rd).
I don't want to post up s**t to hear I didn't make any progress, so this lights a fire under my ass.

Thanks bro, appreciate it.

Off day today. Did some...*gasp*...cardio!

Went a little old-school. Jumped rope for 30 min.
I'm finding I can still do some the fancier movements I learned when I Boxed.

I'll ramp it up slowly, 30 min was quite a workout already.

I've been a little preoccupied.

I renewed my CCNA (cisco certified network associate) today. Holy hell, what a ***** of an exam. Glad I have the credential again though.

THere's also something stirring up @ work....

I have been going to the gym, I have been logging my sessions. I'll update later in the week for those interested.

Feeling good!
