Default Digitalrobs "Get big or die trying" Journal

Yea so here it is. My daily update on attempting to finally take this year and half project that I have been working on and actually do something with it.

Up until this point I think what I have really done is created a firm base to move forward with. I currently as of today weigh 195lbs.

Some history on me:

I started working out June 2004. At that time I was very overweight (290lbs) and not very active at all.

Long story short within about 8 months I was down to 215lbs and maintained that for a while. I then got married and my workouts became sketchy, I ended up losing about 10lbs and then I was sitting at 205lbs for a few months. Well I then learned an important lesson. If your in laws hate you dont go on vacation with them for 2 weeks...yea cause by the time you get back they have your wife turned against you because you yelled at them for yelling at your wife...

SO- here I sit currently in the process of a divorce. I didnt work out for a month straight and I have been wishy washy with diet.

Well I am motivated and ready to get big or die trying as my title says. I am sick of half ass workouts and I have all the time in the world to focus on diet and weights.

I will be updating this daily as I progress. I am going to post a current pic of me and I will probably be posting a new pic each month. My goal is to work my way back up to 215 and maintain.

Wish me luck

Haha yea one or the other eh? I guess my reason that I themed my project "Get big or die trying" is that my workouts have been so half ass lately and I am ready to really just finally say enough is enough, go big or go home.

I want to feel that intensity every time I train like I used to.

[Tri's and Shoulder's]

I hit tris hard for the first time in a while tonight. I didnt bring my spreadsheet so I dont have weight to report but I will starting next week.

When I first started doing shoulders tonight I was really tired from Tri's. Normally I would have walked away but I hit a light workout on them anyways. I did some supersetting as well and combo'd my front/side laterals into the same set.

Overall this week is to get back in the swing of things and get used to my diet. I feel a small lack of energy and I think that I am already going to start cycling my V12 starting tommorow morning. I was going to wait till next monday but eh what the hell.

I came home and ate some chicken breast and some rice and had a tall glass of milk. Later on I am going to have a 50g protien shake and probably some cheese and a slice of pita bread.

Well more to come tommorow is back and biceps.

Update-

Bleh I didnt update for a few days but that does NOT mean that I was not busy bustin ass at the gym.

Last week was my warmup for punishment week. After being wishy washy for a while I wanted to put in a solid

Thursday I was able to hit biceps pretty hard. I was so tired after biceps that I had to postpone my back day to saturday. I seem to be a little bit winded trying to do 2 muscle groups a day like I used to. I am going to give it this week and see if I can handle it, if not then I am going to rework my routine a little bit and go 6 days on 1 day off.

Friday I hit some chest pretty hard and I was mostly satisfied with my accomplishments.

I keep forgetting to bring my spreadsheet that I made to the gym. I created one in excel that keeps track of what excersises I do and how many reps/the amount of weight lifted. My goal this week is to remember so I can be more accurate.

Monday-

Monday is my chest day. I went in feeling pretty good for the most part, a little tired but after a 10 hour day at work dealing with idiots its something that I cant really escape.

I did the following:

-5 sets of flat bench
-5 sets of machine flies
-5 sets of decline dumbell presses

The gym got really over crowded...which has been a problem since it started getting warmer out there. I just really dont like the equipment selection and I am seriously considering switching to powerhouse down the road a ways. I attempted to do some super setting with cable flies and flat dumbell presses and as usual my weights get ganked...which is really getting annoying.

After a couple sets of decline situps I called it a day.

Tuesday= Back/Bi's and Softball!

Monday- 6/19/2006

Over the weekend I worked out on saturday to make up for a few days I was under the weather last week. I hit some back, bi's and shoulders.

Yesterday I scored the "Ab- doer" from my grandma lol. She didnt want it anymore. I have a lower back injury so this should really help me out a lot. I think I am going to do abs at night. I wanted to originally do them in the morning but I just cant get out of bed early enough lol. I am the deepest sleeper ever so mornings just dont seem to work out for me.

On a sad note a good friend of mine and also my workout partner got a new job...This is bad because even though we both live a decent distance from work we worked out at the community center across the street. His new job is closer to home so it does not make sense for him to drive out to our gym. I will be looking for a new gym I guess. He has pushed me along to get me where I am today so I just hope that I can continue with the same intensity without him there.

Today is chest day. I plan on going pretty heavy. My objectives for today are as followes:

-Flat bench 5 sets x 4 reps
-Decline bench 5 sets x 4 reps
-Incline bench 5 sets x 4
-Machine Flys 5 sets x 15
-Incline Dumbell Flys 5 sets x 15

BUT first...I have to get through the nice 10 hour day thats ahead of me at work! Details to come on my results.

Chest went well for monday. I followed the following routine order:

-Incline Bench
-Flat Bench
-Machine Fly's
-Decline Bench

My elbow has been hurting a lot lately. I attribute it mostly to softball (I play a double header every week for my work team and I also play on the weekends as well). My left elbow was hurting quite a bit so I didnt push my 5th routine.

I was able to rep out 205x4 on both flat bench and decline. Its not a personal best but I am getting back to where I was a few months ago.

I am also doing a lot of research on supplements. I have been supplement free except for a double serving protien shake each day now for about 4 months.

I finished a cycle of V12 right before I went to FL back in april. After doing some research I am either going to try out No-Xplode with cellmass and a CEE creatine OR I may try Animal pump (still researching that). We shall see what happens. Regardless I am increasing my protien to 2 double servings of ON 100% whey a day. My goals for protien are 1g per lb of me

Today is a weird day. I have a doctors apt at 6:00 after work...then I have a double header softball game. Tuesday is my legs day and I did not do them last week cause of softball. I would go AFTER but I dunno, depends on how I feel energy/hunger wise.

If I do make it to the gym to do legs I will be doing the following:

-Squats 5x5
-Leg Curls 5x5
-Reverse Leg Curls 5x5
-Leg Press 5x5
-Seated Calf Raises 5x5

After all that I will probably be spent!

Till next time.

Well after my double header I was spent so I did not do legs so they will get moved to either tommorow or saturday, have not yet decided.

I honestly cant wait for softball to be over...its getting in the way with my routine and I dont like taking the day off. Some days I can go in and workout afterwards or before...but most I cant.

Today is Triceps and Shoulders. I cant wait to tear it up. Updates later!

Last night at the gym things went pretty well. My stupid MP3 player battery died like as soon as I got on the floor.

I hate the music that my gym plays. Just to give you all a little background my gym is a "Community Center"...I dont like it. Its full of people that are not serious and they play a really weird music station that plays "maroon 5", "coldplay", "NSYNC", and other weird shiat.

I really like hard music while I am working out to keep the intensity up. If I do listen to hip hop while working out its something like DMX or something more hardcore.

Anyways. I was able to bust out a pretty nice triceps routine. I did the following:

-Close grip bench 5x5
-Skull Crushers 5x5
-Reverse/Regular grip cable pulldowns (superset back to back) 5x5
-Kickbacks 5x5

I also busted out some shoulders:

-Military Press 5x5
-Arnold Press 5x5
-Side Cable Laterals 5x5
-Front DB Raises 5x5
-Bent over lateral raise 5x5

Today is a makeup softball game day for a game that got rained out a few weeks back. After the game I am doing legs.

Well, had a bad softball game last night. Our "team leader" showed up wasted for some reason. Usually he is pretty quiet but the alchohol brought out some severe power tripping and it was really pissing me off. I play right field...and I have always played right field since like 6th grade (I also played all through high school). ANYWAYS he kept yelling and screaming at me to "move up", "move back" blah blah blah. It was really pissing me off. Well, 3rd inning he finally made me snap as we were coming in from a great inning (we held them to 0 runs on defense). I was up to bat and he made a comment to me about how I need to listen to him. I just grabbed the bat, walked up to the plate and cracked it out of the park for the first time this season. It was all the anger that hyped me up...I wish I could call on that whenever I wanted to lol.

Needless to say by the time the game was over I was pissed and just wanted to go home. I did some crazy abs to the point where my roomate had to help me off the floor.

On an lighter note:Today is chest day!

I really like chest, its probably my favorite day next to anytime I work out arms

The plans:

-Flat bench 5 sets x 4 reps
-Decline bench 5 sets x 4 reps
-Incline bench 5 sets x 4
-Machine Flys 5 sets x 15
-Incline Dumbell Flys 5 sets x 15

I am most likely going to order my NO-Xplode and Cell Mass today. I have done quite a bit of research and I like what I have been reading about it. Time to ditch the V12 for the time being and try something new (been cycling it on and off for a little over a year now). I really want to put some lean muscle on and with my routine, my diet and now getting back into supps I really think that this summer is my summer.

hey digitalrob. How's it going man? I just stopped by and was taking a look at your log. I saw you're going to be ordering the NO-Xplode + Cellmass stack ha?

I like that stack. It's a very solid and I believe you'll get some good results when you tie that up with a good diet and you busting your ass in the gym!

The CELLMASS is definitely going to heal you up and help you recover faster and the NO-Xplode should bump up your energy and help you give you that extra push you need to move up in those weights! Remember to drink AT LEAST a gallon of water a day for optimal results with the stack bro! I'll be checking in to see how you're doing man!

By the way....I was looking at your routine and I noticed you like to do 5 sets with around 5 reps for alot of your exercises.

Are following the Madcow 5x5 routine or what?

Hey man- thanks for the info. I cant wait to try out the new supps. I have not used any supps in about 3-4 months so I am excited to get back on the bandwagon.

I just realized that I am typing 5x5...thats supposed to mean 5 routines 5 sets each and for some reason I got in the habit of a typo! Eh my bad lol.

Depending on the excersize I generally go till failure (6-8 reps). For chest I go the heaviest I can do a minimum of 4 reps for but a max of 6. After reading Max-Ot and a few other programs I pretty much just made up my own routine.

5x5 would infer that you're doing 5 sets for 5 reps, each exercise, not 5 routines 5 sets each. It's ok! We're all entitled to make mistakes

Ahh I see so you're using Max-OT principles. I see, I see.

What I like to do is make the last reps in my main compound exercises like squats, bench & deadlift a real grinder. Every other exercise, I like to stop a bit before failure but I want to stay in the area of the assigned reps. I don't know if that makes sense

Yea that makes sense to me Sounds like you got a good routine going man keep it up!

Friday I busted out some chest. Probably one of my most productive chest days to date. Not only did I get back to where I was (225) but I surpassed my max by 10 lbs and hit 235!

The feeling of pushing up that one rep felt amazing, its an accomplishment that I have been waiting for for a while now!

I finished out chest and all in all had a pretty productive day.

I have to go meet with my lawyer today to find out what my rights as an abandoned husband are. SO when I get home from that (its pretty far from my gym) I am going to do pushups and situps for a bit, hit my protien shake and go work on my mustang for a bit.

On a good note I found out over the weekend that I may be buying my first house! Pretty psyched about that. If I do that I will probably be building a decent gym in the basement.
