Default Lankyfreak's Journal: Build it up & Cut it down

2/11/06

I've finally gotten to the point that I just love lifting weights. It's become a part of my life, I can't skip workouts anymore, the guilt is too strong. I love feeling myself getting stronger.

I follow a 3-day a week plan with occassional variances. I've been following a routine loosely patterned as:

Monday: Arms
Wednesday: Legs
Friday: Abs, Back, Chest

I'm switching up my routine to something more advanced, and one that more efficiently targets and rests muscles.

Monday- Chest & Upper Back
Wednesday- Midsection & Lower Body
Friday- Shoulders, Traps, & Arms

I'm going to follow this plan for 4 weeks starting this Monday, and then begin cutting for summer.

you seem very excited and its an excellent thing that you love weight lifting....thats the hardest part for most people....to get dedicated to it and incorporate it into their daily lives. big ups for that

im judging by the subject of your journal that youre gonna be bulking first and then cutting.....

the best of luck to you brother.take it easy....i'll be checking in on your progress

Default Thanks

-Thanks, I've actually been bulking up for about 16 weeks. I've hit a little plateau so I'm going to mix it up for these last 4 weeks before I go full cut mode.

-My new arm & shoulder routine was very effective. I feel I worked some muscles I may have been neglecting a bit. It was a fun to have a different routine. My arms feel great! Can't wait to try my new leg & midsection routine!

Don't be afraid to bulk for a long time. I am going on 1 year of straight bulking....probably going to start cutting in about 2 months...

Great session, I did my first sets of deadlifts in my life. They felt great and I just hope my form was proper. I'm trying to make sure I eat enough and I'm not sure if I am or not! But improvement is certainly taking place.

Thumbs up 2/17/06

My chest workout went great, I really feel the time is near to start cutting, but I'm determined to stick with the last 3 weeks, as a different routine may really improve my gains in a short amount of time. My goal is to get my weight up to 220 in three more weeks. I've gone from 212 to 215 in the past 2 weeks so I think I'll reach it. It's not for the sake of being 220 (although 6'4, 220 does sound good) but just to be sure I'm gaining mass. I don't have a goal in terms of weight, I just want to cut the fat off, regardless of weight.

Default Crazy

Crazy circumstances led to me missing my arm workout today. First time in about 3 1/2 months I've missed a workout doing my 3-day a week routine. I'm going to bump my workout to tomorrow, and get back on schedule wednesday. I'm playing with the idea of finishing this week, then doing six sessions next week to finish my lifting phase and start cutting. I just want to polish off my remaining meats, protein shakes, supps, etc. and then get to the business. I'm very happy at this point with my progress, but I'm really determined to finally feel comforable shirtless in the summer, hence my rush to start cutting. I figure that 12 weeks should be plenty enough time to cut down, and I'll obviously continue into the summer.

"Wednesday- Midsection & Lower Body"

Lower body as in legs! I simply love my leg workouts. I'm a basketball player so they are critical, especially with the extra mass I now have on my upper body.
