Default Training with Tim!

Alright, figured I'd start one of these Training Journals.

Like I said in my intro thread, I've been out of the gym for about 2 weeks now and am putting on unwanted weight. Before that, I was training regularly (as in 5 days a week), and had started a 5-day split (chest, back, shoulders, arms and legs) about 3 weeks before school let out. Before that, I had a 2-day split, but just worked legs whenever I felt like it (which wasn't often, probably once a week). Even before that, I was on the Body for Life workout, which I really really liked, but wasn't seeing much size increase in my shoulders and back.

I do abs 3 to 4 times a week. I'm on Health For Life's Legendary Abs program. Not sure if anyone here is familiar with it, but it works very very well. I'm up to level 4 (out of 10 basic levels - there are more levels and ways to tweak the higher levels).

Oh, I also forgot to mention that I'm a vegetarian. Technically, I'm a pesco-vegetarian, as I still eat fish and dairy products, but I don't eat land animals.

Once I get back in the gym (shooting for tomorrow), I'll post some more stuff. I'll probably start with a total body workout. Here's the plan:

Start with abs, then

3 supersets
6-10 leg extensions
6-10 leg curls

2 sets
10-12 hyperextensions

3 supersets
10-12 bench press
10-12 lat pulldown

2 supersets
21's (7 front raises, 7 lateral raises and 7 rear raises)
6-10 shrugs

3 supersets
6-10 cable curls
6-10 cable tricep extensions

I'm also going to start using a log again and taking it to the gym with me. That really kept me motivated.

Well ****.

I had planned to go to the gym today, but it turns out that I have to drive all the way down to school to pay a fee that they conveniently forgot to tell me about. I hate all this red tape bull****. It's rediculous.

Then I have to work tonight, or else I'd go after I got back.

Ugh, I feel so fat and lazy. I'll just have to go tomorrow.

Hooray! First day back!

I feel really good, even though I had to cut my workout short because I have to go to work. I just stopped back at my house to grab a bite to eat (roasted potatos, sweet potatos and carrots - it's great) and update this log. Anyway, I only did chest, shoulders and back today. I'll hit arms and legs tomorrow.

The hard part is over now (getting up off my lazy butt and going to the gym). I just have to get back into the groove now.

Anyway, I'll post more about my workout later. Gotta go make some money.

Good luck, your already on your way to getting back into the groove. The hardest part was taking your first step. Trust me, I've made alot of first steps.

Do go to overboard though, take it easy on your workouts. Stay low on total sets, so you dont get burnt out. In the beginning its best to stay eager to lift again.

Thanks for input and support. I think that I'm smart enough about lifting to know not to try and pick up from where I left off (even though it's only been about 3 or 4 weeks).

As I mentioned, I didn't follow that workout I posted earlier at all. I went back to square one and did more of a beginner routine.

Anyway, I'm feeling it today. I've always loved the feeling of being sore, and this just makes me want to be more sore. I'm a masochist, I know.

Default Good Man

Good job man, your back in the gym. Muscles have memory so it won't take you long at all, mostly mental toughness. My suggestion to you is to start with compound exercises to get your whole body into it everyday this will help a lot. Good Luck man

Had to bump my workout to the evening last night, and I'm reminded of some of the excuses that I had when I wasn't lifting regularly. It was soooo crowded in there last night, and hardly anyone was there to lift seriously. They were all standing around, hanging on the machines and BSing.

"Hey, mind if I do a few sets here?"
"Hang on, I'm almost done."
30 minutes later he's done talking and did like 2 sets.
ARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!!

Anyways, I lifted legs last night, and I feel pretty good today. Not really sore, but I definitely feel like I did some work last night.

Feels pretty good.

My chest is still sore from Monday.

I forgot to mention one more thing:

I could see my six-pack through my shirt while I was doing squats. That made me feel hardcore. The lighting may have helped , as did the tight shirt, but it was definitely a shot in the arm.

I think I'm back into the swing of things by now, and feeling great about it.

Feeling great!

I lifted with one of my best friends yesterday who is home from college. We went to the local high school to lift. Not only were we in there, the soccer team was there, the wrestling team was there, and I think some of the football team was in there too.

I'm not saying that I'm gigantic or ripped, but I felt like I was a god next to most of the little pipsqueaks in there (I'm 21 and a junior in college, haha). The only guys who were bigger than me were either a) fat, or b) out of high school.

I'm not sure if that had anything to do with how hard I lifted, but I'm really sore today. Too bad the gym isn't open today, or I'd go and lift legs.

Default Breakthrough!

I really think I'm back into the groove of things now. Not only that, but I know I'm a lot stronger than what I used to think I was.

I had a super intense training session today with one of my friends who is home for the holidays.

We really pushed ourselves. I moved more weight than I though I was capable of moving on nearly every exercise we did.

Now it's bedtime so I don't take three steps backward after the two steps forward I took today. Sleep = muscle.

Feel like crap. Haven't lifted in approximately 2 weeks.

No motivation whatsoever.

I'll try to get into the gym today, but I'm just not feeling it right now.

Thanks surfer. I needed that.

I did go lift yesterday. Started doing power shrugs. My traps are killing me today. So are my forearms from trying to hold onto the damn bar. It feels great.

Biceps are sore too. The rest of my body isn't really sore at all. I'm going to have to change my routine for triceps, back and shoulders.

Felt like a million bucks afterward though.

Leg day today. Don't want to go again. Girlfriend and I are having some problems so maybe that's why I've been lazy lately. Maybe lifting will help me get all the anger and frustration out.

No problem.

Go lift bro. Gives you time off to de-stress, and gives ger time to think. But go lift.

I finally had a chance to get into the gym. Midterms are coming up and I've been studying like mad, and my girlfriend and I aren't doing any better.

Blasted my legs today. Punishment for missing yesterday.

5 sets of squats followed by 1 set of deadlifts
5 sets of hamstring curls
2 sets of hyperextensions
5 sets of standing calf-raises

Could barely walk up stairs afterward. Had to take the elevator everywhere. It sucked, but I felt much better overall.

Had Chipotle as my after-workout meal. I don't think I need to tell anyone how awesome that was.

Looking in the mirror, I think I need to hit my traps and rear delts harder. I look skinny, but I can still tell I'm getting bigger.

Speaking of that, I'm gonna go have a protein shake and study for a while.

Oh...my....fvcking.....God.

Couldn't walk this morning when I got out of bed. I was too sore. I hobbled into the kitchen and took about 1500mg of Tylenol, but it didn't do squat. (Haha, get it? Okay, that was a bad pun, I admit it.)

Every muscle in my legs was screaming at me all day long while I was walking. I usually like feeling sore, but this was definitely hindering my performance at work. I'm a salesman, and I need to be able to move quickly in order to get a customer before another salesperson does, or when I'm checking inventory of a certain item, or when I'm running from my boss.

Anyway, at least I know that I'm doing something right and that all my hardwork in the weight room isn't for naught.

This diary is definitely a great motivation tool. I'd be in the weight room right now if I didn't have exams this week. I'll have to get in there after work tomorrow. I'm pumped. Can't wait.

Default I know how u feel

I just started adding squats back into my leg routine, and I really pushed myself the last time I did them. That was on Thursday and it's Sunday Night, and my legs are still sore. Friday morning I could barely walk.

I posted a thread about soreness on here, and someone mentioned L-Glutamine. I researched it, and it sounded good. I think I'm going to get some to help or prevent sorness.

Google it or look it up on here.
