Hit a plateau with my 2-day split, which is why I haven't been posting in here - I've had nothing to write about. I'll be starting a 4 or 5 day split this week. I haven't decided yet.
I went to a new YMCA tonight that's been open for less than 6 months. I had really been wanting to go lift there since it was new and to see if it was any good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. However, it was not a pleasant experience working out there. It started when the girl behind the front desk asked me if I brought a lock, because "we've had a big problem with theft since we've opened." Why don't you have separate locker rooms for children and adults? And why aren't the doors to the locker rooms locked? Suddenly my decision to bring my cell phone in was sounding like a bad idea. After a little shameless flirting, the girl let me keep my bag behind the desk.
The next thing that pissed me off was the weight room itself. The room itself was huge, but about 75% of it was taken up by treadmills and ellipticals. The weight area wasn't tiny, but they had put too much equipment in there that it was hard to move around. They didn't even have a lot of the equipment that gets used the most, either. Two freeweight benches is not enough for 50 people.
Then there were the jerks who were working out (and I use the term "working out" loosely.....very loosely). I'm not used to other people being in the gym, even when they're being considerate. (I lift mid-morning/mid-afternoon, so I'm usually alone in the weight room.) To be fair, though, a vast majority of the people in there were nice and courteous.
Anyway, I did triceps tonight. I think that they're the area of my body that needs the most improvement, so they're getting hit the hardest on their own day in my new split. They are going to be killing me tomorrow - I can't wait for tricep day next week.
