Congrats on your fantastic news Jenny, thought i would share this with you since your pregnant and a total fitness fanatic...
Some of the benefits that exercise offers to expecting mothers are: 1) Speedier recovery after delivery 2) Increased sense of well being and self esteem during and after pregnancy 3) Less leg cramps 4) Larger placenta which in turn provides an increased nutrient base for the baby 5) Decrease the risk of excessive weight gain caused by an increase of fat storage 6) Stronger lower back which in turn reduces the risk of lower back pains 7) Boost in energy levels 8) Decrease the likelihood of varicose veins 9) Reduced chances of having a Caesarean birth 10) Higher chances of achieving labor either a few days earlier or on time 11) Exercise helps prepare the body for the stresses imposed by labor and delivery The rest is here Weight Training while Pregnant |

Thank you so much PJ.
I knew some of that stuff, but some of it was also a surprise to me. Especially the one about the larger placenta and the varicose veins. As far as my P90x training is going...I love this thing. I did the plyometrics yesterday, and I thought it was amazing. Of course, there were some things that they did that I wasn't doing, like there were excercises where they'd jump and bring their knees all the way up...I modified those types of things. But I loved the workout. I'm gonna do the Shoulders & Arms today, along with the Ab Ripper disc. I'm actually getting ready to do it now. So, I'll check back in with you all later. |

Thanks Lace...good to see you around here.
And Hanna, I can't wait for each morning when I do a new dvd...I'm really loving these. I haven't made it to the end one yet, so I'm looking forward to that one now. I did the Kenpo one out of whack when I wasn't supposed to, and I really liked that one. Today I did the Yoga, and I wasn't too crazy about it. That's the only one I haven't loved that I've done so far. It was long, and kinda boring...but I guess I'll get used to it. Tomorrow is legs and back, and I'm also running a 5K for the Red Cross to benefit Disaster Relief in the morning. Then I'm going out with my son and his dad to find a place to have his birthday party. He's not sure what he wants to do, so we're gonna go by a few places, and see if he wants to do anything that we see. Oh, and yeah...I've had an u/s and although, it hasn't been determined what it is yet...it has been determined that it's not twins...although I don't think I would have minded that. You're lucky. |

Hi All,
Just coming in to post my stuff.... Yesterday I did P90X's Legs and Back (my legs are pretty achey today), then I jogged a 5k (I walked for a few minutes of it in between my jog). Today I did the P90X Kenpo Karate. That gives me a good cardio workout, and I really like it. That's all for now, I guess. Ciao. |

LOL...thanks Gil, that would be something, huh?
Well, I'm keeping up with this P90X stuff, and it's good, because each day is something different, so I'm not getting bored with any of it at all. I do it in the mornings, and then I have a burst of energy throughout my day. Monday I did the Core Synergistics dvd - since I'm borrowing them from my sister's husband, he and I can't do the same discs on the same day, so on Mondays I'm going to do either the cardio or core synergistics or stretching or something like that...then I get the disc from him that night whenever he's done doing his, and do mine in the morning. So, Tuesday I did the Chest and Back and Ab Ripper. And today I did the Plyometrics. lol...hey Hanna, it's not the Froggy Squats that I have a problem with...it was the jumping knee tucks and the rock star jumps. Those are too high impact for me, so I do them, but I'm just not jumping like they are. I like the football ones in there too. But my favorite is the Double Air Heisman (or whatever the heck it's called). It's the one when they do the heisman, then the two tire jumps, then the heisman again. I don't know why, but I just really like that one. Oh, and when I did the freakin core synergistics disc, I can see that I'm not going to be able to do that for very much longer. I don't know if you or anyone has done that one yet, but they make you lay on the floor on your belly and do 'the boat' and 'superman' and 'banana'...I can do them now...but I foresee that this will become an issue for me. hehe. I've never tried the core synergist...it wasn't on the timeline to start til later weeks and i never got to those later weeks....haha
I hate the yogaX though...it is the worst yoga ever IMO, so I only did that twice. The froggy squats just go my buns a burnin!

Yeah, my sister and I both decided that we're not gonna do that yoga one anymore. We're gonna do some type of cardio and then the stretching on the yoga days. Quote:
I know what you mean...I felt like I was flopping around like a fish out of water. They do the superman/banana switch, and it's where you're on your belly with arms and legs off the floor (superman) and then you quickly switch to the banana, where you're on your back, but it's curved and your arms and legs are raised off the floor again. And you have to keep switching back and forth. I felt like an idiot. LOL. Thanks Amy. It's good to hear from you. Hope everything is ok with you. |
