Eh...still have to write up my hike log from Friday. Gypsy and I had a good hike. We nearly always do.

My upper back was killing me yesterday. Didn't leave me wanting to stay still to type for long. I really kicked ass with my upper body training this past week ... and it caught up with me.

Normally I only choose one or two lifts to attempt to bring up. But since I was curious about what combining the 5-Tetra and Kre-Alkalyn would do to me...I pushed hard (for me) and paid for it with some serious DOMS. Quite honestly having a loaded backpack on all day Friday really irritated the hellz outta my traps, lats and delts.

My buddy was pretty surprized at my progress and he pointed out a few things to help me with lifting technique, especially for my rear delts which I have been fighting with. He also pointed out that my deads need to be moved to a rack soon. I'm in agreement with him on that one for a couple reasons...the biggest being it's time for me to get cautious with my lower back. I've brought my hams 'up to snuff' so to speak and that was my major goal with adding Romanian deads.

Today I'm taking a day off from my Romanian dead lift work. Rissa has been in a show, "Dead Man's Party" at Six Flags New England and I have tickets to go see her performance. I was just going to bring my digital camera and get a few moments of vid clip...but yesterday I decided to invest in an inexpensive little digital video cam and get the whole show so I can burn a disk for each of her brothers and send it to them.

It's tough on my kids being spread out all over the states when something like this comes along and they are not able to be with each other. Josh will be back in NE for Thanksgiving...but by then Six Flags will be closed for the season. October 31rst is the last day of "Fright Fest."

So...Tomorrow Gypsy and I are going back to Bigelow Hollow to hike a few miles and I'll finally be back at the YMCA on Tuesday...and I'll get to see how things go with my pause-squats.

Alrighty...still feeling a bit stressed immune wise, so I took it real easy today:

Romanian dead lifts
set 1 - 12r/56#
set 2 - 12r/56#

SLDL
set 1 - 12r/56#
set 2 - 12r/56#

BB good mornings*

set 2 - 12r/56#
*My lower back was bothering me from the damp weather...figured these would help a bit...what I didn't count on was my 'trigger-points' on my upper back acting up! I was mega-nauseated when I got done...but I did them anyhow. Fibro is not winning a round with this lady! Lower back feels better now...so there fibro...take that! I win!

Today's Cardio:

cardio 1: 30 minutes Budokon.*
*I haven't been faithful about my yoga stretches...and boy o' boy did I ever notice!

cardio 2a: 10 minutes jumping rope.*
Dayumit! I double braced my knee and that's all I could tolerate! I'm so disgusted about this...

cardio 2b: Heavy bag work.*
*No problems here...guess this is going to have to be my HIIT cardio. My body just won't tolerate much else and the recumbent bike...well I consider that a bit lame. I just plain like a more body movement than you get with the bike.

A couple more days and my break will be over!

Today I went out and bought an 8 pound medicine ball and a new handle for my cable/machine training. The V shaped double handle for lat pull downs and rows and such.

My third training day is going to be just a little bit different as I will be adding in some sport specific training to help with my agility for backpacking in the coming year. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to change up my second day. Normally it's an upper body day or a second full body day if I'm feeling recovered enough from my first full body day of the week.

Bit of a learning curve coming up for me...so I'll be playing it by how my body responds to the change in training.

Default Tuesday - full body day

Back to the gym!

Aight...I've come to a rather major decision over the past couple of days. After Christmas, probably starting in the first week of January I'm going to start a treatment protocol for my fibromyalgia. I've known about it for over 4 years. But back when I first learned about it I didn't feel they had the glitches worked out of it. I've since learned that they have indeed done so.

Only problem is: I will get sicker before I get better. But if the treatment goes well...I'm may finally have put my fibro into what will basically be a remission. Something that will benefit me in the long run.

So, I am going to start my new training program. I'm going to take it easy this month and keep many of my major lifts on the lighter side. I need to go into this treatment with the least amount of stress possible. My training and journaling may get very sporadic for a while after I start. I have also decided to end my cutting phase a bit early and bring my caloric intake back up a bit.

Anyhow...here is how today went:

Back extensions 12r/120#
Hyper extensions 12r/10#

*Machine assist chins 12r/70% close grip
*Machine assist dips 8r/70% outter setting
*I have not used this machine in at least 7 years. I asked if one of the girls on duty could help me out. I ended up with three of them helping and chatting with me. It was fun.

Squats
set 1 12r/95#
set 2 12r/95#
**I normally do my squats after my lower back work...but the rack was in use today.

Machine calf raises
set 1 12r/160#
set 2 12rr/160#

Seated DB press 12r/20#
Incline DB raise 12r/8#

DB bench 12r/20#
Incline DB flyes 12r/15#

Alt. DB curls 12r/20#
Incline DB curls 5r/15# 7r/10#

Machine #07 triceps 12r/70# inner setting
Machine #16 triceps 12r/40#
