Thanks PSP. I remembered this morning that I could have probably used my digital postal scale to weigh the handles/collars. I have a couple different sets. I may do that sometime for the heck of it. Yes, feeling much better. Loading my backpack for a day hiking.

Have a good day all.

Thanks Cammo! We were rained out!

Today's musings:

The last two times Gypsy and I cancelled for rain the sun broke out at noon...so we loaded up my Blazer with our stuff and took off as the heavens opened up to pour down on us!

We decided to stop at EMS and a place we've been by but not stopped at, Adventure Outfitters. Well...I restocked my GU gel, found a nice pair of charcoal nylon hiking pants without an elastisized waist band! At the AO we found the latest edition of the Metacomet-Monadnock Trail guide book! And checked out kayaks.

I also stopped at the Wal-Mart out in that area looking for weighted medicine balls. I found a set of 3 pounders. So I now have a 'new' workout toy. I'm going to use them with some of my Tai Chi and Qigong...in particular with the moves that are for my shoulders. (I still have way too much stiffness and 'clicking' of my shoulders in my opinion.)

Then we headed to the D.A.R. state park and checked it out. We are going to head back next Friday. It has miles of trails, two lakes, a fire tower that looks out over 5 states and lots of camping area. We did get some walking in as we checked out the camping area, pavillion and nature center location. We lunched there also.

We took the 'long' way home and came down rt 202 along the Quabbin Reservoir and stopped at one of our favorite little country stores for coffee. It was so damp and chilly we needed it by then.

The day was a wash as far as hiking...but it was great to be out and about with my buddy.

We did Nite.

Bit of a rough day yesterday. Sometimes...not often thankfully, I just end up in a bit of a mood. Yesterday was one of those days.

Anyhow...
Ear/nose/throat drove me nuts all night again. I swapped out my bed for the couch at 2AM and slept until 8:30!

Romanian dead day today. I love me my deads.... and here is how that went:

Romanian dead lifts:
Set 1 - 12r/105# *up 5
Set 2 - 12r/110# *up another 5

Hey Hawk, stopped by to check in on you, I see the allergies have you down again, mine haven't started yet but I know they will soon heal up and get back on those trails.

Glad you stopped in STUK. Yep...even crashed early last night and slept throughout the night due to being knocked out by heavy meds. May you stay allergy free!

AM Tai Chi
AM 'power' yoga - 30 minutes *Aight...it's official! That Denise Austin chick is insane! Next time I stretch 30 minutes before this routine! Good thing I do Tai Chi to loosen up...I'd have killed myself otherwise!
Budokon - 30 minutes

Did this as a series, back to back, since I'm not out on the trails due to rain again. Finished the series and was starving for lunch!

I hope your allergies ease up soon. I just started two days ago with mine, I didn't start meds soon enough though, so I hope I don't get sinusitis.

Healing thoughts for you Hanna. I hope you avoid the sinusitis!

Aight...I had to medicate up pretty heavily the past couple of days. I just didn't feel very well at all. My body wanted to skip into a full blown infection. So my training went off a bit. I was actually rather irritated about that as I'm in the middle of week 9 and week 10 is my 'medium intensity' week before my break from training. I really didn't want to bow out now and not make a full 10 weeks.

So...I decided to start my MI week early. It just means I get an extra day of training at MI before my break. But because I wasn't up to training full body on schedule yesterday I only did legs today. Start of week 10 and upper body day is tomorrow. Hence no upper body training today.

Today's training:
Squats:
set 1 - 20r/50#
set 2 - 20r/50#
Sissy Squats 12r/bw - *I f*cking hate these...but I'm still keeping off the leg extensions as I'm still having trouble with the right knee.

BB calf raises 12r/60#

I was going to throw sissy squats into my routine at some stage but I'm not sure if my knees will appreciate it.

Actually Cammo...because I only use bodyweight they don't bother my right knee like the extensions were. They are a bit tough KT, but I use my bench to steady myself.

So this morning Kat and I helped Chele move my 'niece' into her dorm. Second floor...lots of stairs, lots of trips up...cardio. Gotta love it. Poor kid...she got a bit weepy on the trip out when her mom started to cry. She was giggling when we got there and she had three 'moms' helping her move in. I'm suspecting that the three of us will be trekking out to take her out to lunch every other weekend or so until she's completely comfortable with her new life.

Week 10/Medium Intensity week - Today's upper body work:

Bentover bb rows 12r/35#
Chest to incline db rows 12r/15#

Alt DB press 12r/15#
Incline press 12r/8#

Bench press 12r/35#
Incline DB flyes 12r/10#

Alt Hammer-curls 12r/15#
Alt incline-curls 12r/10#

Close-grip bench 12r/25#
Overhead tri-extensions 12r/15#

*I'm really excited that I've made almost a complete 10 week cycle with very little trouble. A rarity for me.
