Yesturday after noon I ran some basic bo drills in the back yard. And in class last night he beat us down on the bo..YEsturday being chest day..........today my chest and anterior delts are tight....tight tight tight, Im feelin it in my tris too, but Im sore. I love this feelin....makes me feel like I gotta good workout.

Sparring last night really burned my butt. First opponent was the ole man. ((ow keep in mind he already has a B>B> in TKD. ) He look me straight in the eye and says "dont worry Ill go easy on you" First freakin thing he does is a spinning back kick right square to my hip bone.....I was so pissed off. i told him thats the last time we ever work together...NEVER Again. Needless to say he won 3-0

Second opponent was a Black belt canidate...a little skinny rail teenage girl who didnt want to spar to begin with so there wasnt much of a challenge in it. I won 3-0

then finally I got someone that was more my level. I landed point after point after point....even she was making faces cuase the ref wasnt calling them. Then he says "oh if you are wondering why you make point and I dont call it its casues I cant see it when your back it to me" WTF...then how'd you know I made point I landed like 4 roundhouse to the ribs...how do you miss that?????......I lost 2-3 really it was like 10-6 (me) but this guy ...grrrrrr

So anyway thats my rant on sparring last night. i really wish i could find more pleasure in it. maybe after I get more experience it will be more fun.

Welcome to the world of sparring! LOL on your 10-6 loss. Even with judges in all four corners of a ring, the point totals can vary greatly. On another board, we just had this discussion on sparring/teaching with your sig other. It can be a big issue! Glad to see that you have embraced sparring KT. A lot of the ladies that we have in our sparring classes feel a bit tentative when it comes to sparring us "boys". It is a mental thing for most of them but I always ask them when was the last time they went toe-to-toe with a female? Or, what are the chances they will be attacked by female vs. a male?

Great job though!

well ..I been on the D.L. for the last few days. Thursday afternnon I started to feel a pinch in my lower back...by thursday nioght I was struggling to sit straight.... I skipped karate thurs, friday and last night. I went to see the chiro friday afternoon. The problem was someting I anticipated. Transferance. The muscle in my back have been supporting my body while my body was outta wack. Now that I m getting the adjustments in my upper back and neck, and sleeping on a corrective pillow, the muscle in the lower back have to now adjust to the changes. So blablablaaaaa.. Im hoping today I can get back to normal.

therapy includes sleeping on one of those log pillows, flat on my back...grrr Ice on my back several times a day. And my office chair has been replaced with my stability ball. Im seeing huge improvemtns in my posture already. All this is such a major pain in th erump But Im hoping it proves itself worhty of the time and money. In the mean time Ill go to class tonight and see how I fair.

Backs feeling stronge today...first day in a few. Im going to lay low the rest of the week. the chiro says no deads, good mornings or squats... ever...unless I decide to compete in a bodybuilding compition some people just dont get it.

I have a wedding to go to nov.10th. It will be like a reunion for me ...people i worked with like 5 years ago. So after this week Ill be focused on lowing the bf5 a little more and really tightening things up for the wedding. I will look like a million bucks!

Even the ole mans jumped on the wagon ..hes down 20-25lbs here lately. Mostly cause he's tired of his belly getting in the way at karate. that, and I think hes had enough of the *****ing from his wife...Whatever it takes. For a while I was threatening to up his life insurance. "my chances are way better than the lottery, at this rate Im guaranteed a payoff in 10 years or less" he did like the way that sounded. I didnt like saying it but it was true.

ok im rambling. Ill be back in the saddle monday!

thanks for checkin up on me you guys! its been a rough few weeks.

My back was killing me for a couple weeks. The chiro fixed my neck but with the new alignment my back muscle hurts for a couple weeks. We'restill alittle stiff.
I didnt do anything for almost three weeks. No weights , cardio or karate.

Funny you should mention going to japan.
We had our Master Koeppel, which is the big man in our style. I dont know what hes really supposed to be called grand super duper master or something. But he is 9th degree in both the US and Japan. He is the founder of the Karate-do-Kai. Very very impressive old man almost 70 but strong as an ox.
He held a seminar for us that was three hours long and that was the straw that broke the blue belts back. I was down for another week with my back after that. So thats were I been. Not even suitible to sit at the computer for more than a couple minutes at a time.

I am back in the saddle now though........yesturday i did chest shoulders and tris. And some yoga in the afternoon... feels so good!! Did 20 mins HIIT this morning.

Begining of October marks my one year anniversary in karate......I cant believe its been a year already. Friday night Ill be testing for my green belt. Leaving purple, brown,canidate.....then black belt. It will be a couple more years. Candidate, alone is minimum 6 months.

So thats the update on things over here........i miss chatting with everyone.

Nice to have you back KT! So sorry to hear about the back issues. I do hope that all is sorted out soon and I imagine that you are chomping like a caged animal since you have been "down and out".

Train smart. Don't jump back into it full force. Good luck on your grading. Is your husband grading too? If so, best of luck to him too!

AH! I just started with nunchuku last week! How coincidental! I have oak chuks and everyone else has foam or ratan. Be careful if you have solid ones like mine. They hurt when you hit an elbow, shin, or knee.

Heres a pic from sept 8th. I mentioned the 9th degree, Hanshi Koeppel.
HE's the old man in the middle. I am standing right next to him and the right side of the picture. The guy on the front row at teh end on the right side of the pic, he is my absolute favorite sensei. HE going up for 5th a the end of the year.

Great shot there KT! Nice looking group. Congratulations to your sensei's. Wish them luck for me. I just found out today that we have another tournament in Orlando in November sometime. Don't have an exact date yet, but if I can get my sig-other to take some time off I may well compete in that one. Keep up the great work!
