Tuesday night class focused mostly on kicks. Two things I need to clean up...spinning side kick, I tend to get a lil wobble. body balance issue. and left leg round house is lagging.

Road the bike up for the noon class......45 min class and drills.

after class workout
push ups 3/15
lunges 3/15

cardio
10 min jump rope
15 min on heavy bag
10 dojo laps

I learned a little "cheat" to help me with my left leg roundhouse KT. I have a small problem getting my toes off the mat when I try to pivot on my right foot. If I don't get that right foot pivoting away from my opponent/target, my hips won't open up to deliver a good kick and it really puts a strain on my patellar tendon of my left knee. I had a 2nd Dan tell me to "plant" my right foot where I wanted it instead of trying to pivot. After trying this several times very slowly, I was actually pulling off the roundhouse quite nicely and with some power.

Give it a try and tell me what you think.

first entry in the new section! WOOT WOOT

three cheers for hawkwinds...

Start a yoga class yessturday. its 30 mins mon-fri in the am. My body really responded well to it. I did yesturday and this morning

I'd tried it a couple months ago and just didnt have room in my routine for it between weights and karate. Now that laying of the weight lifting for 2 months, I can replace it with yoga in that time slot.

I dont think Ive mentioned it before or maybe I have but ...I have neck and back issues. most nights when I lay in my bed I can get comfortable on my pillow with neckache. when i roll over it criks and cracks down my back.
I noticed a big difference when I lay down last night.

I know its only the first day but I could also feel a difference in karate class last night. The yoga and karate really complimant each other. Im very excited to see how my body is responing after a month or so.

As far as not doing weights in the am...before the pm karate class....holy mackerel ...what a huge improvement. If anything I just have way more to give, and my muscle isnt fried. I am jonesin' to hit the weight though....I am going to HAve to figure this out some how.....as stands now Im up to karate 5 days.....which I am loving!

LOL!...Actually...it's a huge thank you to Jim!

Kudos on the yoga. I always sleep better and train better when I keep up with mine. I get complacent from time to time and leave it out for a few days or weeks and then boom...I realize that I'm stiff and not so flexible so I better get my self back on track with at least my PM practice!

not to much to update from this week. class has been steady....this week we focused on grappling...grrr I hate sharing my personal space with others.
I have to say I did get some real good stuff out of it. Not to mention the ole man and I had some fun practicing at home

This week up coming.......the dojo is closed for a week for vacation. My step son, his wife, and our 4 year old granddaughter are coming in today for 10 days from delaware, so Ill be playing hostess......freakin' tourist.. she says they have planned beach for everyday. LOL....first day they will over do the sun, and that will be all she wrote.........LOL I got back up ideas for when they get too sun burned.

Its likely Ill do a few full body workouts in the week, since i dont have any karate.

Yep...it's that time of year! My son and his family will be here for 10 days also. They plan on going to the Cape fishing for two days. He'll burn, the wife and kids won't!

Enjoy your family.

I have the same issue with my left foot when doing a roundhouse kick. Can't pivot much. I found that by planting my right foot 90 degrees to the right actually allows me to pivot better. It is still very tricky for me to pull this off 90% of the time. I have been practicing slowly for months and each time I kick the heavy bag with my left roundhouse I really concentrate on the right foot and the pivot. Hopefully, things will start to work out. Great that you sought your Sensei's help. Great work on the yoga too. I don't take a class but I do steal a lot of stretches from Yoga.

things have been a little crazy this past week, with the kids here and al. I did manage to get in a few workouts. spent 15-20 min on the bag a few days. Nothing much of consistant training tho. ( that seems to be the norm for the last few months..inconsistancy)

Back in karate class..woot woot. Starting training bo staff I love it ....it will take almost a year to make rank in weapons. Lots of work.

Since today is off day for class...went in the garage and did a chest/shoulders/tri workout.

bench
incline db
lat raises
arnold press
uprights
skulls
pushdowns

30 min stepper
