Sorry about your dilemma KT! We all go through them and you will figure it out. Please keep us informed as to how your grading goes. I can't wait for you to strap that color around your waist. Sure, lower belts are given to keep you interested but remember, you EARNED IT! You will know if you are moving too fast. Just remember that you don't have to grade until you feel you are ready. Keep your chin up!

Testing went great. I graduated to the 9th kyu. (orange belt) I observed the yellow belt testing, and feel pretty good about where I am now.

There was a little girl maybe 8 years old..tiny lil thing. Sharp as a tack tho...She was testing for 1 kyu brown belt....I guess that what is called...the last brown ....b4 black belt. Amazing lil girl. She looked better than the 35 year old guy at the same level.

The worst part about the test is....I had a splitting head ache and there were like 40 kids under the age of 10 screaming their kiai at the top of their lunges. Each time made my eyes cross

I posted this in its own thread but Im gonna put it here formy own reference..
Transition from gym

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok what Im thinking is @ $40 a month. I could get a pretty decent lil home set-up.
As it stands now, I have a set of 15's 25's 40's, 1.5lbs wrist and ankle weights. I was sorta going over in my head, the improvisation of some exersices, being there is no barbell. Christmas shopping, yesturday I saw one of $44.00. Could I do most of it with dumbbells for now? I think.....

I started my plyometrics routine yesturday. And will be doing that three days a week. And doing weights two or maybe three. At least thats what I think at this moments. Not sure how I feel about it in 10 mins, but you get my drift. The points I was getting to was I dont really care to do the plyo's at the gym. I am short a medicine ball, but , hell thats easy enough.

If I decide to cancel my gym membership, I have to give 60 days writen notice. So I figure, thats plenty of time to add on to what I have at home and I still have access to their facilities for 2 months. Should I decided to thow in a gym workout.

First bit of color around your waist! Woo Hoo! Good stuff tough girl! Sorry about the headache though. I have seen the little 8-9 year old Black Belts and they do put some adults to shame. Gotta love them though. Great job on your advancement. I am proud of you!

today is a rest day, although Ill get a walk in with the dog later after work.

Last night at bushido I really felt great. I can already see a difference in my response time. We were doing some take downs...I got kinda nervous watching the demonstration cause the attacker was supposed to front kick while the other person scoop the leg and stick the knee. Well in order not to get your knee busted the attacker had to twist their body to the other direction with that leg still in the scoop. I was super nervous.

Fantastic ....I nailed it first try (as the attacker I mean) A week ago my body would not have know how to do that. I know here i go tootin' my horn again.... but its my journal damnit....

Doing all the stuff with my wrist weights, I finally heard that pop of my gi.
Moving right along....

Take it easy girl and be very aware when you go to Bushido! I am just now getting back from my ab issue only to find that my Deads are giving my lower back a bit of an issue. I am tight and a tad bit sore. I won't quit the Deads and I am asking my Instructor, who has REAL back issues to help me stretch. Prayers to ya!

Thanks Hawk, Sarge!Ya my quads are super tight today. I did some edu-ma-cating of myself yesturday on the issue, and I'm pretty sure I know exactly why and how this happen. It is directly connected to on specific plyo exersice I did the day before. I'll be ok.......after my noon bushido class today, Im gonna do some extreme stretching later this afternoon. It's all good.....

Wed 12/13.........
Happy b'day Lil Sis !!!!..

What a great workout at the dojo. It was exactly what I needed. I've mentioned kicks are my stronge point, and today we mostly worked roundhouse. I Love the rondhouse kick because I feel like I can generated so much more power vs say, front kick or side kick.

After our warm-up, we started with just the basic roundhouse. Worked that for a while then added, a spinning roundhouse.......and progressed so by the end of the class, we were doning combo's of jumping and spinning roundhouses. I LOVE IT!!!! It is so much fun...and it makes me feel proud that I can do it.

There were only three of us in the class so we moved pretty quickly thru our drills and stuff, but once again I can surely see improvements since adding plyo's...of course they aren't huge since Im still extremely new to it, but none the less they are there.
