with the new addition of bushido, Im getting a reality check...Im not as coordinated as i thought. Some of the movements are like rubbing your tummy and patting your head at the same time. The first two class were more intro. Tonight is our first FULL workout. Im looking forward to getting down to business.

Keep at it KT! For the first few months I felt like an elephant in a ballet class. Things do get better. My kicks used to be no higher then belt-level. Now, I can kick head high. We are starting to get more into turning hook kicks and spinning hook kicks! Right back to the elephant analogy. Although I am finding I don't fall down nearly as much as when I first started.

I had to ease off my leg training when I started TKD and was trying to gain the flexibility KT. Bulk has the opposite problem. He was flexible because of his TKD and now his mass is hindering his flexibility. Let us know if you plan on keeping the same routine for your legs! Martial Arts gives them a real pounding. Doesn't do much for size but I have been seeing some nice definition since I started.

sun 10/22

Whatta nice day. We jump on the bicycles to get breakfast and road about 5miles to Sawgrass Lake Park. It is a nature preserve with a 3 miles of boardway through the natural Florida marsh.

We walked to the end where there is a lookout tower. At the base of the tower there was a gator just hangin out. It was probably 8ft. long. There was a baby one that was 4ft long. There was all kind of fish swimming around the gator. Then this huge softshell turtle comes foating up to the top. It was real cool.

We definately got our exercise. Dont know how hot it was but man it was hot. The telecaster just said its 102 degrees at the Bucs game in tampa.

I would have thought that you were across the state at Biketoberfest! I know that it has been hot and humid here but I have seen fewer gators recently. Guess they know whats coming.

tues 10/24
My training log blew outta my pocket so my #'s are all over the place

4/10 @ 10db lunges

1/10 @ 45 SLDL
1/10 @ 65
1/8 @ 85
1/6 @ 105
1/4 @ 125
1/15 @ 65

1/10 @ 160 leg press
1/8 @ 180
1/6 @ 200
1/4 @ 220

My feet keep sliding to the front of my shoes so on the last set I took them off. Man...from now on bare footed leg press.

1/10 @ 30 kneeling leg curl
1/8 @ 35
1/6 @ 40
1/4 @ 45
1/15 @ 20

1/10 @ 40 donkey calf raises
1/8 @ 60
1/6 @ 80
1/4 @ 100

Ok nobody has noticed so Ill say, I never havae worked calves before last thursday. I have genetically huge calves so I was chicken. I have finally beaten that mental block. This is the second time ever.

The hand wasn't too much hassle. I double wrapped it under my glove and used my hooks (thanks sarge ) More of the hassle was the guys harassing me about it. Its more a nucense than painful I guess.

Just a couple notes on bushido. Which is offically named
Okinawan Shorin-Ryu

Mostly worked on reverse punch and front kicks. Real basic right now, as the majority of the class are beginers. The instructor on tuesdays speaks super fast. So by the time I figured out what he said, The rest of the class was complete with the movement. That was sorta frustrating. Thursdays the instructor is better he will say the Japenese version then english so it's alot easier to keep up. I guess when I learn the jap. words I"ll understand what the guy is saying.

With this style there isn't much kicking above the waist. The concept is to disrupt the foundation. Take out the opponents legs. Which is a shame cause the kicks come easier to me. Which I will add I sure felt the leg work out this morning.

The ole man was getting on me cause I wasn't doing the kiai, but i cant concentrate on the movement, and technique and yell at the same time. In time

Sounds like the old man is pointing out a "female" tendency. I work with the kids everyday and it is the girls who have the hardest time yelling! Why is that? The ladies in my night classes, teenage girls and one lady in her 30's, all yell but it so drawn out. They sound like trains! Ayeeeeeeee yaaaaaaaaaa!

I hit my head pretty bad yesturday morning so I didn't workout. (i know Im starting to sound like Im accident prone but Im not really)

No gym today but, took the dog for a 30 min brisk walk.
Then did a lil shoulder work with a pipe wrench outta the garage. guessing about 8lbs
3/10 shoulder press per arm
3/10 lat raises per arm
3/10 front raises per arm
I did these all consecutive, got a great burn.

abs
4/12 crunches
4/12 side bends
4/12 leg raises
