The sun is out and the temps are up today! Finally! I woke to another inch of snow. But it warmed up enough for me to take Stony's blanket off. Of course now that the sun is out the dogs didn't want to come back in this morning. Good thing for them I double checked the fence line and electric line hook up, that gave them a few more minutes.
Anakin tore a pad open again...running through the brush. *Sigh this is the worse winter I've ever had with his pads tearing open...but at this time last year he was sick and we didn't think he would make it through the end of February, especially after we lost Hannah to cancer in the early part of February while he was still on his course of strong anti-biotics. My confirmation e-mail to the MA OutdoorsWoman seminar came in late yesterday. So now, if that Northeaster goes around us like they say it will, I will be spending all of Saturday out at Quaboag lake with Mrs J, learning about falconry and winter camping! Anyhow you should have seen Joe's face when I was reading this year's abstracts and said, "Hey they allow falcon permits in MA!" I have exotic parrots as well as the dogs, cats and my horse...I think he was worried he would be building me an aviary for falcons! Breakfast Oatmeal with a dollop of yogurt, tblsp of MM and blueberries. Had my coffee a half hour before my breakfast +AM supps. *Today is 'shoulders & triceps' day...my joints feel fine today and my shoulders aren't 'popping' anymore than normal for this time of year...so I should be able to get back on track with my routine later today when I get back from running errands down in Enfield. Lunch: Turkey and Provolone on a 'flatout' tomato and basil wrap. Supper: Missed it. *Had to run Michele into Ware again tonight. Between being outside checking on the horse and pony late this afternoon and the lack of heat in my truck I chilled myself pretty badly and ended up skipping my workout. I really hate low temps. I can handle normal snow and temps...but these really low temps are doing a number on my hands and feet due to my Raynauds. I had to wear my thermasilk gloves again today in my studio-office so I could get some work done...and that with the ceremic heater running. I can hardly feel a thing and I'm getting really sick of my hands and feet being white.

This is not good...I woke totally chilled with my muscles in my shoulders and back cramping and spasming. I am not a happy camper at all! The wind chill is even worse today than it was yesterday. I spent a good part of the day hauling in wood and battening down the hatches for the storm coming in. I broke out Stony's really heavy duty blanket to put on him before the sun goes down. It's so cold out the dogs don't even want to put their feet on the ground.
I did manage to get some work done in my studio-office without my thermasilk gloves on and my heater running. That was a plus. My Outdoors Woman seminar has been moved to next Sunday since we are going to get hit with that Northeaster. My body is absolutely freaking out about the barometric pressure changes and the wind chill and low temps...and here I am planning on hitting the AT in March of 2009 in Georgia! The past two days are leaving me feeling defeated before I even start! I keep reminding myself that I know how to dress correctly for hiking and backpacking and that we won't be out in the dead of winter and that I will be in steadier temps...not this hot house to cold outdoors that I keep putting myself through. Breakfast: Oatmeal with a dollop of yogurt and a tbsp of MM. +AM supps Lunch: Hamburg on a roll with my chai tea. Supper: Steak with petite peas and corn. *My shoulders hurt so badly tonight that they sting and my quads are killing me. I feel like I worked out for hours or like a herd of horses ran roughshod over me...yet I haven't dared to lift with my joints and muscles 'screaming' their discontent so determinedly. It is so frustrating! Yesterday I woke with only a small 'click' in my shoulders, nothing serious...and in a matter of hours all heck breaks loose. This too shall pass...this too shall pass...this too shall pass...

It's still snowing outside. The Cape got over 36 inches of snow! We don't have as much as the eastern end of the state. It's a good thing that Saturday and Sunday are 'rest' days for me. My muscles have been cramping and spasming like crazy and it's really starting to drive me nuts. I still feel like I was trampled by a herd of wild horses. I slept very badly the past two nights.
The snow did bring safer temps. Stony has only ventured out of his shed for water at the run-off tub and then he heads back in. At least he is staying out of the storm. Shinook can't seem to resist playing in the storm every few hours or so. But she's been good about getting back under cover. The dogs are thrilled with the snow. Anakin doesn't know when his feet are cold anymore so we've only been letting him run outside for 15 minute intervals. The cats are thrilled to have the woodstove going. We didn't run it at all last year. Aight! Be back tomorrow. Hopefully the spasms will have quit by tomorrow so I can get some training in. I'm not liking having my week broken up my my fibro-flares at all. I'm getting rather cranky and grumpy about the whole thing.

The sun is finally out! It's cold as all get out though. I have left Stony's blanket on. He's not upset about that...shows how cold it is. My shoulders have been stinging for over 24 hours now, my quads keep spasming, but they are no longer stinging. Absolutely driving me crazy. But I feel fine other than that today. I'm looking forward to my chest and biceps workout.
Breakfast: Oatmeal with a dollop of yogurt, a tbsp of MM and cranberries. +AM supps. *Had my coffee about a half hour before breakfast. I've been needing my inhaler more often with the woodstove going. That drives me nuts too.

Okie-dokie...so the better part of the past two days were a total wash-out. Joe came home from work sick yesterday just as I was getting ready to head to my gym in the cellar. So I ended up catering to his needs throughout the day.
Sometime during the night the back bedroom's baseboards (southeast corner of our house) froze up. Mid-way through trying to unthaw them I get a call from the elementary school and Michele's youngest two had to be picked up. How nice to get there and find a couple other kids in the nurses office throwing up too. Not! So I've been surrounded by 'sick' people the past couple of days. I accomplished nothing as far as workouts the past two days. Aw heck...at least I cooked a porkroast and made parmesean herb bread and chocolate baked rice pudding yesterday. Homemade chicken soup with corn muffins today. I got all my meals in yesterday. Missed lunch today in the mix up of frozen pipes and needy kids. Sooo, since tomorrow is a rest day I am hoping to get into my gym...although I'm 'on call' to go down to Michele's if the younger girls don't return to school. Life can intrude so rudely sometimes.

Thanks Ron and Hanna. I just woke up a little while ago. Joe came home from work and told me that nine guys went home from the shop with this yesterday. When I picked up my friends kids yesterday there were another half dozen little ones waiting to go home with it...guess I was doomed to catch it one way or the other!
I'm just hoping I'm over it by Sunday, my falconry and winter camping seminar were moved due to the storm last weekend and I don't want to miss it!

Woohoo! My fever broke! But I'm so weak and dehydrated it's pitiful.
Isn't it amazing how you can drink gallons and gallons of fluids when you are sick and the fever still wipes you out? Today I was supposed to be at a my seminar this sucks. Yesterday was special and I slept throught most of it

Woohoo! The sun is out and I'm not sick in bed any longer...but I'm as weak as a baby.
Breakfast: None, stomach was not co-operating Yoga: Just some stretching. I'm too weak to even try any true poses. Lunch: Chicken soup & chai tea Snack Peanutbutter on saltine crackers Chest & Biceps: I am still very shaky. No lifting yet at this point. Bummer. Supper: Strawberries & cream instant oatmeal. *Man that stuff is sweet! I so prefer my homemade oatmeal with yogurt and muscle milk in it! Snack: Peanutbutter on saltine crackers.

Thank you Ron! I just wish I didn't feel so physically weak. Oh well, this too shall pass!
The sun is out again! We're on a roll here in New England! Breakfast: Strawberries and cream instant oatmeal. *Short hike day! Musing's from the road: Well, after a couple weeks of below zero windchills and snow storms Mrs J and I finally hit the road for a 3.50 mile walk throughout town. I didn't do too badly. But I was pretty tired as we made our way up the last hill to her house. I can't really tell you about what was going on in town ... we were too deeply involved in discussing our AT plans to really notice. In fact people tooted to us and we were so engrossed in our conversation that we waved and never really looked up to see who we were waving too! All in all a good brisk walk for me after being sick for nearly a week. Lunch: Fell asleep when I got back home and totally missed it. Supper: Chicken soup
