Default 180x3 Shoulder Press

Probably one of my worst lifts, but improving somewhat. Critique away.

video

Also keep in mind I am not using this lift for bodybuilding purposes. If I was I would take it to my chest. A powerlifting press is a press to the chin.

I could be wrong, but I always thought your sapposed to bring the bar all the way down and touch the top of your chest.

Bodybuildng or not, i wouldnt worry about taking the bar much lower. Thats fine where it was at. Any lower just puts unnecessary stress on your shoulders.

Good lifts!

I think the 1st 2 reps were good.

If you wanted me to search for something to pick apart and play the critic, I'd say your form was off on the 3rd rep.

It appeared that you took the bar path out too far at the bottom just a bit and it cost you some power because you had to control the bar as it wobbled back up. Or it was just too heavy for another controlled rep ?????

.

thanks guys

Big guns, Do you mean I took it out too far from my face? Because that is exactly what I did. The first two were in line with my body but that third one drifted forward too much

looks good dude, sometimes I go all the way down to the chest if I use a smith but from doing it both ways it does not matter that much....stick with what feels comfortable

To the chest puts a weird torque on the RC.

I don't personally overhead press (ex the occassional rare db shoulder press) but good work nonetheless. I typically train barefooted - did I see you doing the same? Probably a dumb habit, but I've always done it.

LOL - when I first saw the name of the thread, I thought you were db pressing 180s.

Good job bud.

I just listened to that last night. Well, I'm pressing and you're arguing with the gym Toby while you film (unauthorized). Greatest sh!t ever.

Thanks, I got 180 for 6 now haha. I always train barefoot at home and at my local gym (it is a dungeon and nobody gives a ****), at school I rock shoes though.

You looked pretty solid on those first two reps and that final one just looked like fatigue. Keep up the good work mate!
