ya, about the tri ext. I think i might stop doing those for a while, its kind of pointless as i am already so exhausted. I love the clean and jerks. The military press wasnt so much to train the "jerk" but rather to improve my shoulders. I definitely feel they are the weak aspect of my bench press, so i was just doing some militarys. They are regular, just wanted to do some sets. Next week I am going to do some push presses though. Just recently i actually became concerned with my clean and jerk.

Me and a buddy are having a lifting competition in May, just the two of us, with all lifting rules applicable. Slow bench press, controlled, parallel squats, and no downward motion on dead lifts, etc. We are also adding to the 3 main lifts, the clean and jerk for fun. Here is the thing, he can hit around 330 for bench, and i havent maxed above 275, by may ia m sure i will be in 300's, but he might be higher as well. Squat though, he cant get above 285 with a parallel squat, and i have hit 375 ATG. also, i am ahead on dead lift. He cant clean more than 185 either. So he has me on bench, and that is all, but its by a pretty good amount, we will see how it goes, it is all good and fun, just some friendly competition.

The main reason i want to win is because he thinks my training methods are weird. He does pyramid sets, traditionally never gone parallel on squats until i told him to. Never does dead lifts, but he is just naturally a strong guy. He thinks the weird rep schemes, and pulling singles on deads is a waste of time. So i want to gain a lot this semester and show him my way is superior to pyramid training and doing curls all day long. The advantage he has is he has been lifting every day for 5 years, i started 1.5 years ago, so i guess i am doing ok.

So i hit 300 on bench earlier this week. I went to do some shoulder work after rows today and things felt weak. Not just like i was tired but like my muscles were not ready to lift. I have decided to take a week off of bench, shoulders, and triceps. I will start back next Tuesday with bench again. I think after maxing out and hitting a new PR it will be a nice break, some extra recovery, and some time to focus on my cardio and trying to lose a little fat.

haha, i took this week off, man, I wanna go hit 310, but I wanna get ready for this competition in May. I am not sure if I am going to hit it again next week or what, i am still stoked i hit 300, that felt nice.

thanks man. I am telling you, those tear your traps up so bad. I have never done shrugs cause i didnt wanna waste time to get my traps bigger, but they seem to just be exploding by doing these, they are becoming a favorite exercise.
