Well I had my follow up exam this morning. Was a bit pissed off as I was scheduled for 10:30am and the Dr. was running 2 hours behind. Told them I would reschedule since I had already been waiting 35 minutes. Next thing I know....

WOOSH!

Right into the exam room. The doctor looked at the wound sites, checked flexation and contraction, had me walk a bit, and he was stunned at how well I was doing. Recovery = EXCELLENT!

It will take a full 6 months for the surgical procedure to be completly healed and 6 to 8 weeks before I can resume my TKD training (very light work only). I am allowed to do bodyweight work, elastic band resistance work, and ankle weights now but if my knee starts to hurt, I am to stop. The Doctor was generally surprised at how far I was in my recovery. I guess I owe that to my state of fitness prior to surgery and my knowledge of the required rehabillitation. Me thinks I should be right as rain by March. Looks like I will be back kicking in now time. The true test will be in August when I try to do squats for the first time in 2 years!

Been doing some bodyweight stuff at the house and the elliptical. I can squat now without my left knee bothering me. Only problem right now is ROM. When I get close to parallel, my left heel comes up and it feels like I have a golfball behind my knee. I do BW lunges up and down a long hallway while I am at work. Yeah I get some looks but WTH! Will actually go Thurs & Fri to do some gym work. Probably DB Squats just to stretch things out when I am in "the hole".

Thanks for checking up on me! First update post tomorrow 'round noon!

The heck with what they think...lunge away! Good work on that rehab. Did the doc give you any idea of what your normal ROM post op would be?

LOL! He never got the chance. When I went in for my follow up he had me do full leg extension and full contraction (w/ me pulling the leg up to my butt). He then had me walk across the room and back. I thought the man would fall right off his little stool! His mouth was wide open and his eyes looked liked saucers! He was like "WOW!" Told me he has never seen someone walking without a noticeable limp or having the ROM I had. He just said "Well I can't tell you do anything different since your miles ahead of anyone else that I has had this surgery."

I was right chauffed!
