I would say so. If you are serious about keeping them in your training though I would back off just a wee bit on the weight and get used to them first.

And if you do deads you can pull the ham curls. At least I would. Deads and curls are a lot of ham work when combined. Especially since you use your legs a lot during the week for TKD.

Thanks for the sage advice. As one who "wanders" I am sure you have alot more experience with leg issues. As TKD is only 6 months old for me I am glad for the wisdom. Muah!

Hehehee...leg issues is nice way to put it! You're welcome though. As one that needs my legs for my wandering I've learned to minimize some of the training volume, choose my leg day carefully and go for the most efficient exercise for the job.

Thanks J Lo. It is the thought that counts. Although, can't wait to see that 3rd green square.

Nice going on the deads narc - hope the back's hanging in there!
How were you feeling after the heavy sets - a little sit down maybe .
They really take it out of me - I'm fine during the set, it's just when I've finished I feel like a little sit down .
I would help with your rep but alas, I have the same problem as jlo.

I sat down a lot while doing them! When I got home and sat still for a while I was like "Wow! Nothing to it." Then I would lean forward and my lower back was twitchin like a seperated spider's leg! Tonight, I feel it in the lower back so I know I did it right! Nice feeling like I did 'something'.

He is fine with leg curls and deadlifts in the same workout. Deads target the quads and back the most, hamstrings are the stabilizer muscles used in a deadlift.

I was thinking more of his three days of TKD Nite. He's using his legs a lot compared to most. When I'm hiking two or more days a week I minimize my leg workouts.

It'll all work out to how he feels after his leg day in the long run.

Nice to know I have options Traps and Hawkwind. For now, as I have posted, I don't have a set LEG day. I do through in some calf work during the week since I had that little calf incident a few months ago it keeps me from injurying it again. I usually try to get in at least 4 sets of leg press in but nothing too serious.

Did 2 hours of Tae Kwon Do. Found out that our Grand Master KC Chung's, Grand Master (kinda of like your great Grandfather) is coming from Korea to Orlando October 6th so we have a Tournament. Yes TKD Guy, the bouncing Penquin type of tournament so if you have any tips on tournaments, PM me. I have not decided if I will compete as I want to be the obnoxious father cheering for his son.

After Schoool Program!
Warm up
Stretching
Forms practice

Night Class (Adult time!)
Warm Up
Streching
Cardio training: Full Sparring gear and constant movement. Have to make sure we can last in the tournament. 35 minutes non-stop.
Cool Down and Streching.

Sarge, I think you should compete. It would be such a rewarding experience for you.

But, yes, there is much to be said for the cheering parent. When my sonwas involve they used to call us "honorary blackbelts".

We started TKD for my son and he "invited" me to join so he could teach me! Got to love kids. This will be his first tournament and so I want the focus to be on him and how he handles a huge event like this. I do not want him competing with me. I want him to get all the attention. Any way, I have until Oct. 6th to decide.
