No real reason - I've just been feeling so much pain here of late that it's kind of scary to go any heavier like I'm used to. I'm getting back up there gradually. I have no doubt that I had mid 500s in me for reps today. If it mattered, I feel like I still have a deep set of 600+ in me as well. My quads are bigger than they've ever been (just over 32 now), so whatever I'm doing is giving me some quality growth.

It isn't like it has been in the past for me. I can't risk anything with my knees. If one was to go out, I'd be f*cked professionally... I feel I get the same benefits from using more volume and different exercises, instead of going balls to the wall on squats every single time. I'm not making excuses, but my livelihood depends on my standing upright and demonstrating things for people. I also do talks about wellness and fitness - if I'm on crutches, how convincing am I going to be?

With that being said, I think people need to pay their dues and use heavy, deep squats to get a good foundation. Don't skimp - I'm glad I've always done them and done them heavy. But to be honest, I have absolutely no desire to ever compete in a PLing comp. I think totally tuned in, I could do well, but it just really isn't my thing and I'm not lifting to impress anyone. We all know that there comes a point to where heavier isn't always practical. I'm not old, but I'm not a kid anymore either, and I'd like to be able to spend time in the yard with my kid without a cane!

I know, without a shadow of a doubt that squatting had nothing to do with my knees. Football had a little to do with it (I've had some nasty hits with my leg fully extended and planted) and jumping from airplanes more than 600 times had a lot to do with it. You get some nasty landings when you jump that many times. I wish that earlier on in my lifting years (high school) was going ass to the grass, but I learned quick enough to avoid hurt. Nonetheless, the accumulated damage has caused quite a bit of instability in there that I am going to have to live with.

For the most part, yes, especially I was 20 or so. I have had brief layoffs from burnout or injury, but nothing too long, except nearly 7 months from a pretty severe back injury. Not to say that I've always made constant progress, because I've went long periods of time with no concerns of improving - I think anyone with any longevity has done that.

This is kind of out there...

I thoroughly enjoy pissing in my back yard. It's just kind of what I do being a southern man. Anyway, I went out there this morning to enjoy the cool breeze on my manhood (it's kinda cool out, so I had socks on) and when I came back in, I heard something clicking on my sock (like I had stepped on something).

I sat down and looked at the bottom of my sock and I had crushed a very large scorpion (from tail to head about 5"). I have no idea how it didn't sting me. lol

I cleaned out my garage earlier too and found another big ass dead one out there. They definitely live down here... All of this rain doesn't help it either. I'm going to feed you to them, Wayne.

You might be stronger than me, but I won't go willingly. My 250 lbs is a lot to throw around.

Don't worry, me, Lozan and Hrpiii have already discussed it. You're scorpion meat, brother.

Here is a pic of Peyton wearing my baseball jersey from my Sophomore year of high school. It isn't that he's that big, but I was only about 5'4" 120 at that point. He'll be 3 in September. lol

I'm just going to lead by example and hope that he makes fitness a huge part of his life!

I'm almost embarrassed to write this, but today is either a light bicep day or a rest day. Well, I was restless earlier, so I did 15 sets of cable rope curls (to get a little forearm work in as well). I did 150lbs on all of the sets and the reps varied from 20-30...

LOL - total noob workout. I loved it.

A'ight, I got some measurements for ya. Everything relaxed...

Weight - 241.5
Calves - 18 5/8"
Thighs (at largest part) - 32"
Chest and Back - 49"
Shoulders - 57.5"
Arms - 18 1/4"
Waist - 33 5/8"

I did my neck and flippin forgot and I don't feel like walking back in there to do it again. I think it was 17 7/8 which is by far the biggest it has ever been... I weighed myself at 7am and that was my weight (it's Monday). As I mentioned earlier, Apr 10 was the first day I was ever over 240 in the morning. I had been there in the evening several times (I've been as high as 246 or so in the evening). I don't use weight as an indicator at all, but I feel good knowing that I'm easily staying above that number.

I'm just going by the mirror. I'm not really measuring everything I'm eating, just doing my different carb days as I usually do (on one day I measure some things, but most days I don't). I'm not concerned with an 8 pack, but with the summer here in Texas being so nice, it's important to stay relatively lean and not have any kind of gut.

So, so far, so good on the joints and the sleep. I'm really not feeling any pain or discomfort and I'm breathing fine.

I also solidified a regular workout partner for Saturdays (which happens to be my leg day). I'll see how long he hangs, but I think he'll be ok. That gives me a guy to do arms with and a guy to do legs with. I'd really like a chest partner. Back is my own day though. I don't think I can have anyone around because I'm so into it.

Then there's Mondays and Wednesdays where I'm just messing around, doing some low intense work for some reps... Fun for the pump!

Damn dude, you must be a monster. How tall are you anyways? I'm dreaming of the day I have 18" arms, don't know about the rest but I should probably measure soon.

it was curling in the squat rack that did it. without the squat rack, my curls really suffer.

OR, it could have been when I twisted L4 & L5 45 degrees out of place and it stayed that way for 3 days ...man that brings up some painful memories I want to forget!!!
