Odd journal - full of rants about a washed up comedian. If he's on juice then he'll at least have some new material about the side effects.
Oh and a word about Bonds - It doesn't matter how much juice you are on, it still takes a certain amount of skill to crush a curve ball over the fence. Check his stats out - he hits for average as well. He's not a McGwire or a Giambi. Cheating - sure, but your hat still has to go off to someone that is still one of the best, jerk or not. ------ Noticed on your back day that it's almost all deadlift. So come next week, that's the big daddy workout for me. I'll be taking the straps with me on that one! Thanks for the motivation!

Alright y'all, I had to dust this thing off and get back to business. I'm going to go lighter for 2 weeks and give my body a chance to heal up a bit before I crush it for 4-6 straight weeks. So, consider this my deload period.
Inc db press 100x12x4 Flat DB Press ss w/cable flies 100x12 - 100x15 x 3 Seated Military Press 75x12x4 Laterals 40x15x4 Quick and easy. I'm burning, but not dying. |

Don't worry, I'm still whipping ass 5 days per week, just haven't been inclined to log it. Here's today work.
Squat - let's go 25 reps, shall we? All feet 6" apart. 225x25x4 Man, the O2 factor just kicks the **** out of you, especially with close ass feet here. Leg Press 1 leg (right, left) and then 2 legs. 1 leg - 320x15 - 2 legs (no rest) 500x40 The sets diminished after that and the last 3 were the same 1 leg and then 500x30. SMOKED at this point. I think I busted a blood vessel in my head and I had that sharp ass pain I got in Iraq. After I almost passed out initially, I got my breath and pressed on. Calf presses 500x15 (slow ass motion) x 5 Pull Throughs 150x20x4 Since SLDL are one of my faves and best lifts, I saved them until I was almost cooked. 315x12x4 All in all great workout. The guy I do legs with is pretty no nonsense and although we talk crazy sh!t (I know, not Boyd) we don't rest much and we push each other. I'm a bit stronger than him, but he's motivated and just strong enough to where there's no way in hell he's going to let me slack off. My family leaves tomorrow, so I'll be able to get back to a normal life. They've worn me down this weekend, for sure. |

I've done it a million times and I think most of you are just either full of sh!t or don't have the intensity to get it done...
3 days ago, I set a PR on deads of 650lbs. I STILL feel it. Today, I worked with my bud that couldn't dead with me on Wednesday and he wanted to do it today. I agreed. I was out all night on the boat. No sleep, a few beers, no carbs this morning (I had a protein shake and a Powerade Option). My back is tight the lake. Squats 225x10x3 315x10 405x6x2 455x3x2 Saved something for deads... Yes, I DID hold back a bit, but you can't tell me that wasn't a nice stim from squats. Deads 315x5 405x3 455x5x5 He only deads around 405, so I just did work sets with his. Sure this is way under where I normally work, but my point is this was still a hell of a workout, but it wasn't over... GHR 5 sets, holding a 25lb plate x 10, 10, 10, 8, 8 Since I didn't do any biceps the other day, I did 4 sets of 60lb dbs x 12e and then 3 sets of cable ropes, 150x15... Again, I get a serious kick out of people who say "You cannot do deads and squats together." I dare someone to say I don't go all out - that's bull****. Ever seen Bill Starr's programs? Hell, I go to damn near fainting on squats most of the time, but as soon as they're over, I have a surge of energy and strength - doesn't everyone? I'm just kind of tired of people talking out of their asses about what MUST be done and what you CANNOT do. I'm calling bullsh!t on all of y'all that perpetuate that sh!t. |

damn dude, why the delwick anfony talk lol.
I've done deads and squats on the same day before. I'm actually considering doing that more often since my schedule is a liitle hectic as of late. I know Westside Barbell does heavy squats and deads on the same day. I've thought about going westside for awhile.

Nice lifts. As you well know Boyd I'm throwing around some different ideas and may end up in the same "predicament" of DL and squat on the same day. But I don't see why not if the intensity's there on every set.

Theara,
Every time I logon here, I see someone saying "Don't do this because ________" and 99% of the time, it's the same regurgitated sh!t that some other ass clown stated without any reliance on experience or proof. LOL - I am joking most of the time when I seem fired up, but I do let stupid sh!t bother me, like people acting like there's one way to workout. Yeah, WSB does them on the same day as well, and there are plenty of people whipping ass on that program as well. One thing is quite simple - the movements are extremely similar. One of the programs I designed for myself when I was in Iraq had me doing them on the same day ever 5th day and I the progress I was making was as good as I've ever done. I can't distinguish between going to failure and going all out on these heavy ass lifts. It's very binary to me - either I get it or I don't. May be a set of 2, 3, or whatever. That failure talk is for sh!t like db curls or whatever. When you're lifting heavy, either you succeed or fail. There is no middle ground. On cable rope curls? Yeah, you can go to failure, of course. But THAT isn't the set that is inducing growth. Picking 600+ lbs off the floor is what's doing the trick. For people to say "there's no way you can hammer squats after you do deads" or vice versa, I'm betting they don't go full throttle every set anyway and they're looking for an easy way out or they'd just prefer to get to the isolation exercises so they can get in the mirror and look at their pump. I don't always do them on the same day, but I'm leaning toward going that direction for a while. Since I honestly don't view days as "what body part I'm working" it really doesn't make a sh!t. Plus, I feel I can get a lot more done on days with other types of pulls and rows if I'm not spending an assload of time on deads. For me, I can kick ass on 1 day for 3 hours in the gym, keep my other days sub 90 minutes and still continue to grow, grow, grow... Hammer - just try it dude and see how YOU like it. Don't listen to the bullsh!t - believe you love it and you will love it... |

And I can def appreciate doing it for that reason - lol - you have most of these guys that don't even know what the accessory exercises for the respective exercises are saying "Don't do them..." When I do them both on the same day, I find I have more focus on the accessory work on different days (spaced out properly, of course) so I get to spend more time on my weaknesses.

Personally, doing them both on the same day is fine, but hitting PRs on both lifts every other week whilst doing them on the same today is too hard.
