Yep, thats my main assesment right now too. But I like the face pulls as a secondary and as an alternative to your beloved shrugs - LOL
I have slacked off on Deads, thought my back was father along and could afford to take a back seat and now all of a sudden a little weight loss here and there and now I feel as though my back is NOT farther ahead and besides width (which I have a lot of), it lacks thickness now. I tell you one thing, losing bodyfat will definitely expose your strengths (larger muscles) AND it will expose your weaknesses too. All that fat hides sh!t. Thanks bro |

Word - fat does hide it.
Had to settle for a 90 minute deep tissue massage today. Lots of pec and upper back work because my ribs have been killing me... I think I partied too hard last weekend. First time I've ever let a massage therapist go under my ribs via the diaphram - that's awkward for me and I can't stand being touched there, but I feel pretty good after the fact. |

My ribs/diaphram area is sore as ****, but Walker Texas Ranger is on USA right now so it's all good.
I did some brief, intense arms today. I didn't go insane heavy, but did burn some high reps out and kept the rest periods nonexistent (really, no rest between most sets). EZ Curls ss/w OH Tri DB Ext I went back to back to back to back to back to back. 165x20 - 100x15 x 1e 145x20 - 100x15 x 4e Hammer DB Curls (seat) ss/w DB Skulls 40x20 - 40x20 x 4 Rope Curls ss/w Weighted Dips 150x20 - 150+bwx15 x 3e Short on breath, burning still. Not at my studio (where I have about 10 tapes) but I'll find one and measure. |

I'd say bench is my best lift right now... Not my heaviest, but relatively speaking, I am a better bencher than squatter or dl'er right now. Make sense?
Nah, bicep work means nothing to me. It has absolutely nothing to do with the size of your arms either. Bicep is less than 1/3 of the upper arm and the muscle is a beach muscle. Did legs today. Went foolish. Squats -Took forever to warm up. I didn't sleep as well as I wanted last night, but that's life I suppose. 225x20 275x20x4 315x15 Not a lot of rest and the humidity was up in my studio. Thought I was going to vomit. SLDL 315x20 405x10x2 405x6 Wanted some extra lower back work. I think I know why it's tight ^, but I don't like that: Pull throughs 150x15x4 90 Degree hypers holding 25lbs 25lbs x 25 reps x 3 sets Finished with 1 leg leg presses. I'll tell you this - if your hips are lagging, you'll know it here. Mine were tight as hell from everything else, but no excuse - these will cause some pain tomorrow and the next day... 230x10e 320x10ex2 LOL - yeah, I did 4 sets of calf press (on leg press) dc style, but only because my workout partner has no calves. I normally would've blown them off. |

Did some heavy ass pushing today to get ready for Herpman. Bench Press -I actually did 3 sets of light inc db to warm up 55x15x3 -Acclimated, went to work cg-395x3x3 mg-405x3x3 wg-405x3, 405x2, 405x0 I've had some shoulder issues of late, but nothing serious. I actually ran out of gas for a very simple reason: I had a serious asthma attack last night. I had to shoot 3 shots of Albuterol at 4am and then I hooked up the oxygen. It scared the sh!t out of me but I'm fine now. Incline Bench 315x3x3 -Just wanted a bit of shoulder work. Flat DB Bench 100x15x2 For stretching purposes, I hit 3 sets of cable flies. 100x15x3 Stuck with laterals and fronts today Laterals 40x15x4 Fronts 30x15x3 That last one didn't feel so good, so I went ahead and called it a day instead of pushing through one more set. I'm reading Juiced (Jose Canseco's book) and I do find it quite entertaining. I think now we know that Jose was pretty much telling the truth from his sometimes entertaining point of view. Anyway, this board + his book have given me another topic to rant about. I always get a laugh when people see someone in incredible condition and point out that they believe "he's juiced" or whatever. I see it more on this board than anything. The level of athletes that I often deal with and the type of work I do has forced me to become quite informed on anabolic steroid use. I don't recommend it nor condem it, as it is a very personal decision. I do prefer my clients tell me WHEN they're using so I know to adjust their diet and workouts appropriately, but other than that, I don't form an opinion on their use. The thing that kills me is the two points of view. The guys that are heavy users act as if they barely help and the guys that are skinny little f*cks act as if just their sheer use would turn you into a He-Man. I hate to be this way, but both groups are completely wrong. There is a LOT of middle ground there and the truth is somewhere in between. I'd say that while they have helped some people become absolute freaks (and I'm talking about normal people, not the insane amounts being used by IFBB guys), there are plenty of people here on this board that could use them and would only see marginal gains because they don't understand the importance of nutrition and intensity when they AREN'T using them, so they aren't going to miracuously start doing everything right. Believe me, I know PLENTY of guys that are juiced to the hilt that DO NOT LOOK LIKE BB'ERS. Why the rant? Because I feel that aside from the guys here that are pretty open about their usage (and you all know who they are - my hat is off to them for sharing their experiences), people have no business suggesting or asking that a particular person is a user. It's really between that person and his support group (family, friends, or whoever he deals with day to day). Yes, I do feel that a majority of people on this board have no business touching them - either they're too young, too inexperienced, too unknowledgeable or just too lazy and are looking for a serious shortcut, but for the guys that decide to take that path, it's really nobody else's business. As far as Jose goes, I have no reason to doubt anything he says in his book about the usage in sports. Hell, Carl Lewis came out 15 years ago and said that 99% of Olympians use them and I believed it then, even though people acted like he was crazy. I crack up when people say things like "but he's not big" or "he is a nice guy, he wouldn't do it". That's some comical sh!t, like you have to act like Barry Bonds to be a user. LOL Great. IF I HAD TO BET, I'd say that these former players do or did use gear or GH, and they seem to get a free pass: -Clemens -Ripken Jr -ARod -Randy Johnson -Papi Ortiz These are guys that aren't usually named, but I think they did something. Mostly for the older guys, it was because they were so good for so long. I like A-Rod's steady weight gain. I don't give a damn what the media guides say, I can see a visual change beyond what a normal adult obtains. You know what? I don't give a damn. I guarantee that if someone told you that you could be the best (insert your career here) and make more money than ANYONE else if you took a shot that nobody could ever detect, you'd do it too... It's their decision, and I watch baseball to be entertained. I'm guessing that at least HALF of the guys are doing something - it's a long, brutal season. If you had to travel around in the middle of summer, town to town and hang out at the ball park all day, eat healthy and find time to workout, you'd be hard pressed too not to look for assistance. A'ight, end |
