Give me your opinion Bulk on Lesner. I didn't think he had the speed that Mir has so I gave Mir the nod! Watched the run up to the fight (UFC All Access) and Lesner, though he is strong and an accomplished AAU wrestler, just looked too slow. Not saying he won't be good but speed was lacking from what I saw.

Didn't get the PPV so I would love to hear your thoughts...

Cheers mate.

Just saw the video. Actually I was surprised by Lesner's performance. Considering Mir's experience, and Lesner's lack there of, Brock held his own and dealt out some punishment. The penalty to Lesner showed his lack of experience but he was beating Mir as he said he would do. Mir's kicks looked tentative but after the first shoot I don't blame him.

Lesner gained some very valuable experience from the fight and if he works on his ground game (gaining control and using his weight more) I think he will be less likely to get caught in some of those submission attempts.

Mir showed some of his old form and and why he is dangerous from the ground. I was impressed with his chin too. Great learning experience for Brock and nice work for Mir as he tries to move up in the division.

I give major credit to both fighters.

Mir - took some serious pounding (straight punches, elbow, and those hammer punches looked like they could bring down a small house) yet kept his composure. I think w.o submission game - he would have lost. I also think as he stated or someone did - he was focused on the ground/submission game. The weakness was obvious.

Lesnar - great energy and even though with a slow burst he showed he could beat the crap outta an experienced fighter. Needs major work on the ground game n improving his guard. With that being said and done, wow I really think Lesnar could do some damage in MMA.

I agree with everything that narc said 110%.

I really don't/didn't agree with the point being taken away, a warning would have been better suited IMO. Hopefully Lesnar can correct cause I want to see him fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree a that maybe a warning should have been given but Lesner was using his hand like a sledge hammer! Could have been very dangerous for Mir or anyone else. Man I thought that Lesner was going to just smash Mir's face flat! As I said, Mir has one hell of head and chin!

Lesner definitly needs work on control when in someone's guard. He seemed too rushed to smash away and not get good position. He definitly had good GNP skills and his elbows looked just as viscious as his hands. I would suggest spending some time with a very good JuJitsu coach and work with extremely talented grapplers. A year or so in that type of camp and Lesner will be one hell of a force to be reckoned with.

Yea I think compared to Mir he is really lacking any sort of strategy to use his great strength other than simply smashing away, which clearly, didn't get him too far. It takes a helluva lot more than big lifting numbers to win in MMA.

But in all seriousness, just one of those smashes would've put me into a concussion lol.

I gotta say... I think Mir is just lucky that he caught this fight while Lesnar is still bit green.

I think Lesnar just got excited when we got off to such a fast start and any strategy he had going into it just kinda flew out the window.

Interested to see what this guy will look like once he has a few more months of Jitsu under his belt.

lesnar made the error of getting the blood lust once he was stacking on top of Mir... he tried to end the fight with a quick GnP but Mir weathered the storm well and used Brocks piss poor positioning against him.

Hammer fists are not nice but not the hardest tool to use, you can bust your thumb or little finger easily hitting away at a blocked head.

Mir knew what he was going for and if you watch the final 10 seconds he sets himself up nicely, anyone with a decent amount of experiance in BJJ will know the warning signs of a leg lock.

Brock is still a green horn per se in MMA, give him 3 more fights (not against tin cans) and he'll be ready.

i remember the first time i got mount, i was wailing away with blood lust only to get swept and lose positioning.

The lost point was a bit hasty, i've seen worse but i think the ref was making an example due to the media attention gained by this fight. Anyone who knows how the UFC has struggled to gain athletic board acceptance in the states will know that a blow to the back of the head is like shouting 'n*gger' on public TV.

i'm no expert but i think brock shoulda seen that coming. his positioning didn't look good at all.

does anyone know what the weight difference was between them?? brock must be close to 300 lbs and mir looks like he might be 220 -230??

In an interview Brock said the only BJJ he knew was how to do an arm bar and a heel hook :P Maybe if he bothered to figure out what a knee bar was he might have won.

Give him time. Like someone said 3 or 4 more fights with experienced people and some ground game/jitsu training.

And yes, a knee bar haha...

Watching the pre-fight interviews were funny because Mir, who was considered one of the best heavyweights ever and was former champ was taking Lesnar really seriously and doing alll he could to prepare for him, where as Brock who had 1 MMA fight was taking Frank Mir as a joke and didnt even care about what he could do.
