Default Tacoma-1 Ford Ranger-0

Tacoma Wins!!!

I got rearended this morning, sitting at a stop light. I don't even think the Ranger touched his brake, and I saw it a split second as it was about to happen. Luckily, no one was injured, but the Tacoma is drivable, folded the bumper underneath, tailgate destroyed, bed crimpled, but it did it's part, keeping me and my wife safe. The Ranger, destroyed the front end, pushed the motor off the mounts, everything, flat tires on the front..totalled... but hey, his airbags went off, and he was okay. So I have to say his Ranger sacrificed his life for the driver also.

He was very calm, which kept me calm, and with no injuries, we were all very lucky.

Now, just the headache of getting all the insur stuff done and repairs made... uggh.

Of course he was calm, you don't get out angry when a monster steps out of the other vehicle. Glad to hear everyone's ok that's the important part, cars can be replaced.

I agree. But I waited for him to get out, as I was checking to make sure my wife was okay, and I was okay... and he stepped up to my truck to make sure we were okay. Then I got out and accessed the damage.

When the sheriff arrived, he walked up to me, with a huge grin and said "..well, I just need to hear what happened, even though it's obvious". Like you said, we are lucky, that's why I have insurance, and glad he was fully insured also.

I've calmed down a little now, just feel like crap.

insurance stuff sucks......but at least they had it. My daughter got rear-ended by a non-insured driver last month. The $1300 in damage comes out of her pocket.......

Glad you guys are alright, Hank. The truck can be fixed.

None of the trucks on the market right now are all that great. With crumple zones, lighter materials, and generally poorer quality workmanship they all fall apart anymore. I had a 93 S-10 Blazer that I hit someone from behind with (no brake lights on their car and they stopped dead in a workzone in rainy weather...I just could not get stopped) and the thing folded up like an accordion.

Ren - out of her pocket simply because the other guy was uninsured, right? If it were me I'd go after the other guy to get $$$ to do that...not to mention he's probably in some major issues with the state now.

EDIT: Ren, did she not have uninsured motorist insurance? I believe it's required here in TN along with general liability, but I could be wrong.

EDIT2: Glad you guys are OK Hank. Vehicles can be replaced, but people can't.

Thanks guys, and you are all correct. Me and my wife are feeling good this morning, no stiffness in the next or back. We are very glad there we no serious injuries.... or even minor injuries after our vehicles sacrificed themselves for us. If we had been in my wifes 2 dr stratus, I think we would have both been in the hospital.

I drove my truck to the collision center. The guy walks out and says "..how the hell did you get this thing here". I said "..its a Toyota, it can take this and still get me where I need to go". He said "this is unsafe, we are getting you a rental immediately. hehehehe. I told him it got me here, but drove like Michael Waltrips car on a Sunday afternoon. He chuckled and said he would get the bed off and see what it all looked like and let me know next week. ...and then asked "..you a bodybuilder, you're kinda big".

I'm sportin' a cool '08 Chevy Cobalt 4 dr now baby. I think my trimmer has more power than this thing.

It's not cool unless you let your arm hang out the window to show the guns, then it's a cool ride

thanks man, and I got my truck back on Friday. Sweeeeet, all nice and shiney again. He only caused $8,500 worth of damage to my baby. And the most important thing, I'm out of that rental car... or as I referred to it as "..the death of me!!".

Did they give you a "Smart Car?" The hilarity of you driving one of those would be too much.
