Default does this work? "run your car on water"

I thought this was a big scam. some websites are selling descriptions for how to add a device to you car or truck that uses electrolosis to provide "browns gas" to your intake. It says it helps burn your fuel more efficiently and adds 40 - 80% increases in mpg's.

I talked to a guy at a party last night that says his boss just tried it and it really truly works. I would like to know if any of you have actually tried this or know someone personally who tried it.

i've heard lots of stories where people have actually made it work. But they were very resourceful and could build it themselves. I'm not that crafty.

i've heard of people making it work to.i think i even seen a commercial on tv the other day about a car that runs on water.

i think it is a bad idea to start making cars run on water anyway ,because then the government will probably just make everyone pay more for water. so they can make there money.

They weren't running on water, just the hydrogen gas.

What people don't understand is there is a loss of energy. This isn't just free energy here. It takes MORE energy to separate the hydrogen molecules from the water than it does to use it for fuel. So if we start using massive amount of energy to make this gas, guess what, we are still stuck using a crapton of energy to move our lazy asses somewhere. It's not nearly as green as people think, especially when the energy for making the gas comes from power plants burning coal and oil.

Just buy a freakin roadbike, and save the car for long trips. There, I just saved you tons of money. I have ridden my bike everywhere for 3 years now, and after driving my car to work this summer, just now realize how much paying for gas sucks.
