I agree kt. While I was watching the movie I realized that there was definitely some religious concept driving forth the ideas explained in this movie. They only mention God about two times if I'm not mistaken. Anyhow, what I got from the movie was what I had already known from having read certain books and such, and that is: T--->F--->A---R.
In other words: Thoughts lead to Feelings. Feelings lead to Actions. Actions lead to Results It's always been known that it's better to think positive rather than negative. That's basic and pretty common sense. I think a big concept they failed emphasize was the action step. Without action, there will be no results. You can't simply create goals and think positive to then expect results. The thought process is just where it starts, and I think it's imperative that everyone be focused, determined and positive but moreover, be willing to take action. So yes Spinman, in a sense, it is about self-motivation and positive thinking. Unfortunately, many have neither and I think that was one of the purposes for the development of "The Secret". Simply envisioning will not bring upon results--that's what I feel "The Secret" movie doesn't stress enough. |

Being an agnostic in the South is a very interesting Gill. Do you receive a lot of criticism for that down by where you live? I mean, I am getting the right idea, no? In The South there is a strong religious belief system, right? |

Yea, I grew up on the bible belt. Being in South Carolina where the "Holy City" is located has always been pretty comical for me.
My friends are all very cavalier about it. They joke and make jabs all of which I do find funny. There have been several experiences in my life where I have been "condemned" by people I've met that found out about my beliefs. Unfortunately, my girlfriend of nearly 6 years broke up with me a little over a year ago due to it. She knew I was agnostic going into the relationship but I think she figured I would grow out of it or something. We started talking about marriage and kids and she promptly bailed. My current girlfriend shares my beliefs, though from a different philosophical standpoint, and we have tons of great conversations about everything. As far as my family goes, they've adopted the 'dont ask, dont tell.' |

This seems as more of a motivational book/movie. I watched this movie quite awhile ago, when no one really knew about it. I also watched "what the bleep do we know" which predates this I believe. It involves a lot of the same people, and dives into what we are, where we came from, etc. Not a motivational work, it combines several well-known scientist, theoretical physicists etc. Its definitely intriguing. Listen to some stuff from Dr. Kaku - probably the most well known physicist of our time.
