tree roots bad
Ok, I have an older house with many trees around it and my main drain gets clogged up with roots every so often and I have to have it augured out (usually every 9-10 months). It was'nt too bad at first, maybe $80. Now most of the plumbers want $120-350. Well, after being ripped off last time, I called around and found someone to do it for about $90. It was a mistake as he was an older guy with a small power auger that was'nt running right as it was rusting out. He did clear the drain as he got a small amount of roots out. Now, one week later, the drain is overflowing when I flush the toilet or empty the washer. I think he just went down the middle and did'nt use a big enough end piece. Think I should call him back and complain? Or should I just go out and get one of those hand powered drum augers or a closet auger? I think the roots are just a couple feet down from where I can reach this time (sometimes they are out around the foundation). I think I'm going to sell the house next year or I would invest in a power auger when I get some cash (right now I'm working part-time so I don't have much money to blow on this). Anyone with experience in this?
