Default Crooked mechanic's caught on Tape...I've been to one of the locations many times!!!

This is why I always stay near my vehicle watching them do their work.
Especially so with simple oil changes as it will only take 15-20 minutes of your time, as who is to say they change the filter and these crooks were caught on tape not changing it...Of course there is problem thousands of business' that get away with it and more so for the lengthy repairs, the ones where you have to leave your vehicle.

When I get a part changed, I always ask for the deffective part back to try to prevent this scenario.

I just found it funny that I've been to the location where the district manager was at and was lying about his identity - LOL..The Canoga Park location....But I'll never go again

That really is disgusting. I'm always afraid of that happening to me. I actually took my car in last week for an oil change. Who knows. hmmm I came out paying 275.00 though, they always seem to find SOMETHING ELSE wrong with the car. Maybe cause they see a girl and they just take advantage.

Great thinking about wanting the old part back.

Holy crap! How many barrels of oil did they sell you fitme?

Yes they take advantage of women. My wife took her X-Terra to the Nissan dealer for an oil change, they ended up quoting her like $800 worth of other stuff it "needed", ie. bad hoses, belts, PCV, fuel injector cleaning.....etc. She told him she'd bring it back the following week.

I took it back - of course it needed none of that. I asked the service manager to show me what was wrong with the hoses, belts, etc. I replaced the PCV valve - nothing else. $20. I filed a complaint with the regional office. They sent us free oil changes, a/c service for a year.

It was a bunch of BS that he tried to take advantage of her like that. I could have gotten all the parts he 'recommended' at Autozone for under $200, and they were gonna charge her over $800. That $75 p/hr labor must be why.

LOL, actually they told me I needed the front brakes done too so I agreed.(oil change+frontbrakes=275.00) I hope they really did it. They gave me a whole list, at least 10 things that need fixing or replacing on my car. I have been taking it to the dealer though. Maybe the dealers are worse.
That's crazy what they said about your wifes car and it turned out being false.

Maybe it's better to take the car to a local mechanic. Who can we REALLY trust though?
But Jiffy lube is a local mechanic. lol

fit, sounds like you need a man in your life, at least someone to go there with you. Oil change=$20 for parts. Brakes=$30 for pads at Autozone, with a lifetime warranty. Rotors (if needed) will run you about $100. You're getting hosed (no pun intended).

Ditto that. Brake jobs are actually VERY easy.

usually takes me 2 hours..I am slow...The brake job is the easy part (changing pads, brake fluid, inspection)... it is the jacking the car up & taking the tires off that is a pitb...

I like doing it myself because I know it is done right.. plus I can pick exactly what pads & fluid I want to use... usually get the more expensive pads, but still is cheaper then paying a shop to do it and get better pads too...

Thank God I know a thing or two about cars and wouldn't let this happen to me.

But just the general public who may not know can be taken advantage of SO easily.

It's quite sad, these crooks.

Remember though that car manufacturers have been trying to make their cars with digital signatures and technology and the average mechanic can't afford this technology so the public will take it into...the DEALERSHIP which means...BIG MONEY.

I feel bad for the honest mechanics out there.
