Once I woke up in the morning and saw this black/redish thing crawling across the floor...
So I realized it was a tick so I smashed it and blood squirted everywhere like stepping on a little ketchup packet....it was sick, so that was some animal or human blood that it had gorged itself on...

I heard once they get inbedded, the only way to get them out is by burning them

I've heard this too.. but also to use some type of oil to get them off and a tweezer. Poor Hanna, I would hate to have to part with my favorite tweezer!

No, but if you leave the head behind you can end up with an infection.

Deer ticks, the ones that carry lyme disease are very tiny, chesnut and black color and are smaller than the head of a match.

Just keep an eye on the bite area and watch him for a fever and sore throat. Not all people that get bit and contract lyme disease get the rash shaped like a bull's eye that is supposed to be a symptom.

We did a couple things to get them to loosen their hold. Dab petrolium jelly on the tick so it suffocates and 'backs out' or dab it with alcohol which also causes it to 'back out' of the area it has latched on to.

Most people go have them removed surgically now-a-days rather than wait due to the risk of infection.

The last thing you want to do with any tick is to break it or squeeze it in such a way that it could release toxin back into the host.

BUT being afraid of worms? I'm sorry, that's mega wussy lol. Worms are the fishermans best friend!

ticks are creepy and disgusting.

I am a wussie when it comes to any type of nasty looking bug, especially bugs that can bite, suck your blood, sting, or ones that are just nasty like cockroaches. Any bug that embeds it's head under human skin to suck blood while possibly transferring bacteria and where you have to pull it out with tweezers causing much pain is creepy and gross. Leaches too...remember that movie Stand By Me? poor kid.

Cute bugs like ladybugs are okay...but not the young ladybugs-larvae-those are narsty, just the round ones with spots...I think the spotless ones are creepy. What we called roly-poly's when I was a child are not that creepy when in small number. Grasshoppers are okay, but not crickets. The tiny dragonflys...the irridescent ones are okay as well as butterflies...the big dragon flies are disgusting and moths are disgusting too.

So Hanna, going to Six Flags and eating a live cockroach to get a Flash pass is out of the question?

You want to talk about personal trauma, my 2 year old had an alergic reaction to something today. Her whole body swole up mainly on the left side ears and all. Gave her some benadryl and the swelling went away. Not sure what exactly happened she had some cashews today, ate a red popsicle off the icecream truck and got bit by a couple of ants. We're thinking it was the ants she was bit on the left foot, she's been bit before with no problems like this. I'm staying up late keeping an eye on her. You would of thought nothing was wrong with her she was still running around and playing the whole time tis was going on.

Glad she is okay. Last year my daughter got tons of ant bites. It was horrible...had to keep her home for a week.

Those ants are horrible. I hope your daughter heals up and everything is okay.
