When viewing a web site and the link is to a PDF or other downloadable file would you rather the browser just open it when you click on the link or would you like to see a download dialog box that asks if you want to save it to your hard drive or open it?

I agree, just wanted to see if others felt the same. I've changed (or am in process of changing) most of our pdf downloads (forms, publications, etc) on the site I run for work to do this now.

Well in your case I would (if possible) arrange them to just open. No need for the minor clutter with the pop-ups.
I know I use the "Open" alot with torrents since they are so small they dont need to be downloaded and vice versa with the bigger files. Hanna on the task! Get r' done!
