Detroit and Flint are really the only 2 cities in michigan that have these problems. I live in Lansing, which is the state capital, and theres usually only 2-4 murders a year. Thats not sh!t really. Thats funny that Detroit is one of the worst cities while Troy, which is a suburb of Detroit, is one of the safest.

I live 20 miles from one of the safest cities...Cary, NC
Full of rich white people and they have city ordinances that prohibit any moveable homes....only stick built homes, they also have appearance ordinances. Full of corporate coke-heads. I like my town with a little diversity. |

WTF ever. These facts have lost all credibility with this category. This place is a zoo. El Paso? Bwhaahahhahahahahaaa The cartel is probably having a gun fight there now. I wonder why N'awleans and Atlanta didn't make this list? Was shocked to see that LA and Detroit didn't get up there by SA as well. Garbage. |

Alot of the Detroit suburbs are very affluent. When youre driving around its amazing how fast you can go from crack houses to million dollar houses.

They combined the ranking of all 6 major crimes.
So, for example, one place could rank 1st in murder rate, but if they ranked last in all of the other crimes, then it would probably make the safe list. (That was just an example). But, I think that S. Dakota was ranked like #1 in Rape, but it made the safe state list. Hmmmm. |

I was just kidding about that. I thought it was funny though cause I always hear about how nice and friendly southerners are and that it's us Northerners that are the jerks. I guess we're too busy being jerks to commit enough crimes to make the list. (But if people moved a little faster in the south, they'd probably be able to escape alot of crime that happens to them)....hahahahaha....just kidding again. |

These numbers are totally skewed. Think about how many Northern assholes move south to enjoy our incredible cooking, our perfect weather, rape our beautiful women, rob our numerous liquor stores for drug money and then kill people on the highways?
My point - not only real southerners live in the south... |

None taken
It's true, though, that lots of Yanks retire here (the golf is great, BTW). We do tend to do things a little slower, but that's only because we take the time to enjoy the scenery south of the M-D line...again, nothing against Yanks. I have relatives that live in the "snowier" sections up that way. They're fine, most of the time |

I'm actually surprized that Springfield, Holyoke, Worcester or Boston MA didn't make the lists. Crime rates for those cities are rather high and gang activity has been heavy since the late 70's.
And Connecticut one of the safest states...hellz no! But then I live and grew up between a couple of the local bike clubs. Interesting to say the least.

HaHa. People always say that NYC is riddled with crime, but it made the list as one of the safest big cities. I don't think it's that bad, so I wasn't surprised. |
