I went all out and said everyone should be allowed to bear arms. I get so mad about how I can't carry my gun around legally. I feel I need to carry heat to defend myself.

I am not a felon but I think that the bad guys will get guns anyway so they might as well just go and legalize it for everyone that way the law abiders would have a fair chance to deffend themselvs. When crime goes down on the street it is never fair odd it is always like 5 guys beating on one guy so I think you need to have a gun to survive.

The thing that i dont understand is that Criminals will always carry guns no matter what the government say, however the Government dont want anybody in the Uk to own Firearms so all the decent people give up their Guns as the law states, while Criminals carry on walking around with Firearms, does that make any sense at all to anyone here?

Advocates for the right to bear arms often point to previous totalitarian regimes that passed gun control legislation, which was later followed by confiscation. Totalitarian governments such as Fascist Italy and Germany during World War II, as well as some Communist states such as the People's Republic of China are examples of this. Bolshevist Russia and the Soviet Union did not abolish personal gun ownership during the relatively liberal initial period from 1918 to 1929; the introduction of gun control in 1929 coincided with the beginning of the repressive Stalinist regime.
There is no direct causal relationship between gun control and totalitarianism. There are a number of countries that have had gun control in place for many years -- the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia for example -- that are not considered by most to be totalitarian governments. There is only one country which was democratic prior to becoming totalitarian, the Weimar Republic, one of the weakest governments in Europe in the twenties and early thirties, from which the Third Reich arose. There, the Nazis actually liberalized the gun laws of the Weimar Republic with the Reichswaffengesetz in 1938, but prohibited possession of weapons by Jews shortly thereafter. Firearms-rights advocates also point to the example of Japan. The Warring States period in Japanese history led to a high percentage of weapons ownership within the general populace[citation needed], and this hindered the Japanese Imperial government in establishing totalitarian control within the country[citation needed]. A number of edicts were issued, stating directly that weapons should be confiscated because "[weapons] make rebellion possible and make difficult the collection of taxes"[citation needed]. The Japanese populace was eventually disarmed, weapons ownership was strictly limited to the elite and their Samurai bodyguards [citation needed]. Peasants, without any access to arms, were at the mercy of powerful warlords. Registration of firearms in some countries has led to confiscations of formerly legal firearms and the outlawing of the ownership of firearms to various degrees. Some oppose registration of guns or licensing of gun owners because if captured, the associated records would provide military invaders with the locations and identities of gun owners, simplifying elimination of law-abiding (i.e. patriotic) resistance fighters. Location and capture of such records is a standard doctrine taught to military intelligence officers; and was widely practiced by German and Soviet troops during World War II. The Battles of Lexington and Concord, sometimes known as the Shot heard 'round the world, in the 1770s, were started in part because General Gage sought to carry out an order by the British government to disarm the populace. |

FISH & FEATHERS: WITH GUNS WE ARE CITIZENS, WITHOUT THEM WE ARE SUBJECTS
By Capt. RON MALAST Chinook Observer , WA Nov 29 2006 The age-old controversy of "gun control" has been argued for many years, but never with a satisfactory conclusion. Advocates of gun control believe that by taking weapons away from the general population, they put themselves in a safer position, In my opinion, nothing could be further from the truth. When the public submits themselves to the restriction of having their guns taken away, in the interest of public safety, they are under a false assumption. To believe that criminals are going to abide by these rules and the government is going to protect the public is pure fantasy. The government has its own reasons for not wanting armed citizens. Whether you agree or not, it's an interesting lesson in history. In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953 about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up an exterminated. Germany established gun control in 1938. From 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others were exterminated. China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissents were massacred. Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to protect themselves were slaughtered. Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians were killed. Notice a pattern here? At least, 56 million defenseless people have been exterminated, in the 20th Century. Twelve months after gun owners in Australia were forced to surrender their personal weapons (640,381 of them) by their own government, at a cost of 500 million to taxpayers, the results are in. Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent. Australia-wide assaults are up 8.6 percent. Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent. Seems like the "bad guys" forgot to turn in their guns. This seems to be a trend in countries where gun control has taken weapons out of civilian hands. Why should criminals worry about recrimination, if they know there will be no armed resistance from their targeted victims. Law biding citizens will turn in their guns so that they do not break the law and become criminals. Criminals do not give a damn and will break the law to reach any means. If the courts of this country would support the police and enforce existing gun laws the criminal element would be reduced considerably. ~U As of 1992, for every 14 violent crimes (rape, murder etc.) committed in the U.S., one person went to prison. As of 1992, average length of imprisonment for: ~UMurder 10 years. Rape 7.6 years, aggravated assault 3.4 years ~UIn mid-1990's, criminals on parole or early release from prison committed about 5,000 murders, 17,000 rapes and 200,000 robberies a year. ~UAmericans use firearms to defend themselves from criminals at least 764,000 a year, according to surveys conducted by Galiup and the Los Angles Times. ~UWashington, D.C. Enacted a virtual ban on handguns in 1976. Between 1976 and 1991, Washington, D.C.'s homicide rate rose 200 percent, while in the rest of the country it rose 12 percent. ~UFlorida adopted a right-to-carry law in 1987. Between 1987 and 1996 these changes occurred - in Florida the homicide rate dropped 36 percent; in the rest of the United States it dropped only 0.4 percent. The figures speak for themselves. - "Gun Control," by James Rucnco (www.justfacts.com/gun control.htm) Ron Malast is operator of the charter boat Big Dipper working out of Sea Sport Fishing Charters in Ilwaco 866-211-6611. Its my right as an adult. I should be able to carry a firearm. When I hit 21 I plan on purchasing a pistol, most likely a H&K USP .45. I like firing weapons (hell I joined the army) and plan on taking it to the ranges, or up north to my land.
My state (wisconsin) came so close to passing the concealed carry law. It passes, the governor vetoed it, and it missed 2/3 majority by 1 vote. Man was I pissed.

I think the NRA has too much political influence to let that happen on a national scale. The southern states will never allow it.
