Well since i have 2 girls im not gonna have to worry about that one but if i had boys, i dont think id let em play with toy guns. Teach em to respect guns, not point em at other people and try to shoot/kill them. Whether its play or not, I see nothing positive that can come out of it. Buy em a bb gun when theyre old enough and responsible enough and teach them the proper way to use it.

I don't think so. Our neighbor kid let my son have one of his toy guns and it got "lost" quickly.
The scary thing is my daughter is the one who wanted to play with it. It was disturbing seeing my 2 year old point a play gun at her brother. Nope, no guns around here, real or fake. |

I've never bought my son a toy gun or he has never received one as a gift. He is 4.5.
I dont think It's right these days. Especially in the world that we live in today. I dont want him to think shooting is good. We were at some friends over the weekend and their son has/plays with guns and swords all the time. So, obviously my son was playing with them too. I was mad cause my friend doesnt really care if her kids play with guns. What do you do? Maybe I'm too much but thats just me. |

Maybe, just maybe I would let him play with a gun that was totally fake looking, like one of those blaster things from Lilo and Stitch, but not any sort of gun that looks real. I don't have a problem with him playing with a super soaker. It's the guns that look real that i don't like. |

Thats it though. Swords I could handle a bit. I seen him play with the neighbours water gun one time and I found that really disturbing... It's hard though when his friends think its ok to play with toy guns..I find it difficult to explain to him that I dont want him playing with them..Meanwhile the friends parents dont care...

When a tiger cub plays with his brothers they play at hunting and killing each other, the mother watches them play fighting till one day she takes them out and teaches them what she knows about hunting and taking down big game animals etc, every animal has a desire to kill either for food or to defend their family from predators. You wont ever tame nature, the day will come when they will act on instinct.

I try. I seriously think sometimes kids need to hear no...even if it really is no big deal to say yes. that probably makes no sense. haha.

My daughter gets the "NO" when she needs to. We went to Disneyland yesterday and she heard it quite a bit That doesnt mean I dont still say "YES" |

oh I see...then tell the parents. Just say, "I don't let so and so play with guns". That should work and if they are like most parents they will have their child put the toy guns away. |
