It's like my childhood coming back with Rocky Balboa and now Rambo!!! Once again, my hero is Sly Stallone |

You can tell Stallone has got a thing for Powerlifting/Strongman now, its like Bodybuilding has little appeal to most folks now, although i could be way off! People seem to be turning to more strength sports.

I feel its because people look at the likes of Jay and Ronnie and get put off from Bodybuilding or even following the sport, with something strength based like Strongman people feel alot more entertained as its got substance to it, i would rather watch a Strongman loading Atlas Stones than some ripped guy in a thong posing.

Too many Bodybuilders die every year and the sport is so polluted with drugs that it will never go mainstream again like it was back in Arnies time. |

I think it comes down to the public being more educated. The general public know now that you can't get as big as a pro bodybuilder or even a top amateur without ridiculous amounts of steroids. I've always been a bodybuilding fan but i am getting less and less interested in it as the years go by.
I always thought a sport was supposed to be healthy and like you say if bodybuilders dropping like flies because of all the years of prolonged steroid abuse and collapsing onstage and such, how is that healthy? It's just not exciting to see guys posing (not for me anyway) that have took the freaky size thing too far. I prefer guys like Flex Wheeler and Dexter Jackson they haven't got the roid guts of the 280 pounders. After a while it just gets like "oh yeah that's Ronnie Coleman and he's huge blah blah blah". Nobody really tires of seeing guys lifting what would be impossible for normal human beings, it's entertaining. That's why the strongmen used to be in the circus because people wanted to see these extraordinary men doin extraordinary things. And that's why WSM in the UK has always been one of the highlights on television for the christmas period for years. When was the last time bodybuilding was on terrestial television in the UK?...............I rest my case. When Rambo blows the vietnamese guy up with the explosive arrow in Rambo 2 is class! 1 of my all-time best cinematic moments!

lol PJ... he's having a dig at arnold mate.
sly and arnold never got on and had massive fallings out in the 80's-90's action film era. Quote:
read 'fantastic' biography of arnold... goes into detail on how the arguments started and how it effected each career.

I dont think real Metros could handle real hardcore Bodybuilding, they certainly wouldnt squat or deadlift like you do.
