Mrbobcat has a spectacular aura about
Default resume stuff

Hey guys, I'm really not looking forward to going back to school next week. We have to go back a week earlier than everyone else, have reading to do and about 50 drug cards to do before our first day! I've heard horror stories along with the amount of work the second semester takes and I really don't know if I can do it. Anyway, I saw an ad for a machine operator job that pays up to $18 an hour. I would'nt mind working in a factory if I could make at least $15 (only make around 10-11 now). It says to include a salary history. Should I just put it on my resume? Should I mention anything in the cover letter also? And I have "working towards my LPN licence" in my resume, should I take that out or leave it?

don't put salary requirements in a resume.

Since they asked for salary history, put it in the cover letter. Then also put in the letter how much you are looking for....and ask for more than you want. Not way out there more, but I think 15-20% more. If you say you'll take 15/hr....they'll offer you 14.50 and you might take it. If you ask for 17.50, then you might get more than you want.

Employers want to think you are working cause you love the job instead of being interested in the job just for the salary. So you have to let them think that to a point.

About the education part...in the resume under your Education section, list the degree and your semester hours....dates attended would be from whenever to present.

About the salary...dont apply for jobs that you don't think pay well. The job I have now I applied for because I was a stay at home mom and did not need to work, so my husband and I decided I would only apply for jobs that a.) I was interested in, b.) for companies that had good benefits, and c.) jobs that I had a pretty good idea paid well. So I applied for all sorts of stuff...stuff that I did not even meet the desired education, some of them wanted a masters...some of the jobs require all kinds of advanced education....some of them crack me up. No knock to advanced education, but I've met many not-so-smart people with advanced degrees. Always aim higher than you think you are qualified for, never lower IMO. Should be a life motto! --- sorry off topic...lol

Just remember, the resume gets you the interview, the interview gets you the job... Dont BS your resume too much - you will look like an ass in your interview

Also, leave your ambitions in there - they show your work ethic and willingness to learn.
