It's an interesting thought...because I tend to wanna take a nap sometime around 1PM or so just to re-energize my batteries or something.
Then again, my day generally starts around 5AM...lol

no. I read a study long ago...I forget the details, but the jist was how your body recovers when at deep sleep...and they put it that in order to achieve that deep sleep that your body and mind needs you need at least 8 hours but no more than 11, and of course there was a lot of babble about variances dependant on age and phyique and that crap.
but one long session was prefered over 2-3 short ones. or so that article went. |

Did it give reasons as to why not to go more than 11? From personal experience I would say the more the better for muscle growth.

I can't remember bane...been a long time, i think it had to do with getting into your body canablizing itself for going so long without nutrients or somethin.
cat naps during the day are more for mental well being than body....your body never has a chance to really get in that "deep sleep" mode on a cat nap. |

I read an article once that the ideal amount of sleep to achieve was 8 hours of sleep. If I'm not mistaken, REM sleep is what we're trying to acheive but if you keep waking up, you make it harder on yourself to reach that REM sleep. I would stick with what's worked for thousands of years and sleep one time a day, at night time
There's no specific set amount of time that is required for peole to sleep since it varies from person to person. People like to sleep anywhere between 5 and 11 hours.

Like you said, quality is always going to be the issue, not quantity but in my case, I realized that 8 hours of night time sleep as opposed to 8 hours where most of the hours are during the daytime are not the same.
Example: Going to bed @ 11 p.m. and waking at 7 a.m. is nowhere near the same as going to bed at 3 a.m. and waking up at 11 a.m. Does that make sense? |

It's all to do with Beta waves, alpha waves & theta waves which are frequencies at which the brain works with while awake & asleep.

I think if you make sleep a routine, like sleeping at 11 and waking up at 7, your body will feel better as it knows when it'll get the rest since it has a schedule. Sleeping at 3 in the morning usually sleeping when the body is too tired, so its not as rewarding to the body.
