The adoption process is tough. I was involved with GSD rescue for quite a while. I fostered dogs, did transportation and house inspections. But in the end I'm sure you'll find it was worth the effort.
He'll be neutered, so he shouldn't have 'issues'...all rescues neuter/spay if they are worth their 'salt'. No intact dogs are adopted out.

It actually depends more on the breed and age of neuter.
I neutered my male GSD too early. He took after his grandsire and not his sire and went to 29 inches at the withers. He should have stopped by 27 inches. From the pic of your buddy...he's well developed and proportioned now. Neutering him won't affect him filling out. The rescue won't be apt to give you the option to hold off though. Too many people renig on promises of a neuter/spay and then the dogs or the dogs and their pups end up back in rescue. So spay/neuters are almost always done prior to placement. I had one foster come in as an emergency and we had to wait for an appointment for her spay. All mine at the time were spayed/neutered so I took her until her appointment. If anyone had wanted to adopt her during that time they would have had to wait until after her spay to take possession. The rescue I worked with won't budge on that one.

Yea I dont know if I could change his name...he may be to old for it. If I did I think I would change it to Diesel. If this doesnt work out I just talked to a good friend of mine and her brother is having a litter of champion papered pitbulls. I think that they may be outlawed in the city I live in...but if they are not I am going to get a good deal on them.

My emergency rescue came from a kill shelter. We had no idea what her name had been as she was scooped off the street in the bad section of Springfield.
She was a little over two years old. We named her Mandy. It took her a bit, but she did learn to respond to her name. You can change a dogs name if they are older. Just takes patience.
