if its that price monthly, wow. Almost not worth buying a new car.

Edit - for those who don't want to break out a calculator, thats 8700 every year for just insurance. WOW, are you sure its not 725 for every half year (6 months?)

how old are you? if youre young, you need to purchase a used car, so you own it outright (not making payments) and get liability insurance rather than full.

I would rather drive w/out insurance than pay that sh*t. Of course if it will cost you that much, chances are you aren't the best driver so that might be a bad idea.....

Go thru a broker rather then your typical state farm or geico insurance agent. Theres alot of other smaller insurance companies out there that take your business for a whole lot cheaper. My auto ins premium for my car (which is fairly new-2003 Lexus GS) was $231 with all-state. Im with some company called Cost-u-Less now and my premium dropped down to $165 and I m not even 25 yet.

you could go to progressive online and they should show you what the others are too.

mines is $250/month with Farmers Insurance (got it when i was 21 - though it was $300 for about the first year)...but seeing that i just turned 25, it should go down....but also seeing that i just got into a accident, i'm hoping it'll stay the same or if it goes up, not by much (but if it does go up a lot, i'll be insurance shopping)

plus it'll also depend on what you get...the higher the deductible, the cheaper the premium....but beware, if you do go that route and get into a accident, you'll probly be hurting.

The only problem switching to one of these shady companies is if you do some research you will see they really blow when your in an accident and claims don't get paid. I have Erie Insurance and pay 234 quarterly for full coverage on a 500/1m plan. I can't imagine almost $800 month, nor have ever heard of it. Call a local agent and see what they say. Unless you insuring a 07 ferrari or something i just can't imagine it being that high. Young driver in a high risk plan with a sports car i could see maybe $2500yr max.

Back to topic.. Wow it pays to be older, not that I am old or anything, but I have 2 cars on my insurance. VW and 96 Vette... I pay about $240 a month full coverage. I pay more for the VW cuz I drive about 130 miles to and from works daily, so they up the price. Try allstate.. they gave me a good rate. My partner had a dui a year back and I don't think he even pays $750 a month.

I cant imagine anyone paying over $700 dollars a month. I only pay like $600 a year.

I have progressive and I am paying 200 a month for full coverage. I have a flawless record except the asshole that pulled out in front of me in June, hence totalling my last car. I am thinking about switching to Geico. I hear they have better rates......

When I got a quote from Geico they were the highest. Least for me, I know noone here in Ohio that uses them.

Maybe its different in certain areas. I am sure our cars, driving records, age, etc have something to do with it as well.

As an insurance broker I m speaking out of experience. There are alot of companies out there that will insure you and are not necceseraily shady. They are just not known to the public on a nationwide level.

Having a premium over $700 a year for a young adult is very normal by the way.
